Our Super Recycle Event this year was held on Saturday, May 2nd, at the Mueller Center parking lot. While we had slightly fewer vehicles than last year bringing items, each vehicle brought more recyclable materials than last year, and we filled both roll-off containers to capacity in quick order! By 10:15 am the containers were on their way back to Rapid City to unload. Community members participating helped keep 11,620 pounds of recyclable materials out of the local landfill! Quite an excellent outcome for the community. Pacific Steel is sincerely thanked for the volunteers they brought again this year, and the donation of the two containers used for our event. The other local volunteers are also appreciated for coming out on a Saturday morning in support of KHSB's recycling effort. Look for it again next year on the first Saturday of May.

What an incredible kick off to May with a week serving our community during this year’s Great American Cleanup!

A total of 104 volunteers came together to help remove trash and debris throughout our community and along the river. This annual event would not be possible without the dedication of our returning volunteers, partnering organizations, and everyone who helped prepare for and support the event.

A special shoutout to the largest volunteer group, the Boys & Girls Club, for their hard work cleaning up the Butler Park area, and to the Rotary Club, our second-largest group, for tackling the truck bypass.

Thank you to every volunteer, organization, and supporter who gave their time and energy to make a visible impact in our community. Your efforts help keep our town beautiful for everyone to enjoy! 🇺🇸♻️

Just a reminder, things that don’t belong in the bump-outs: Litter, Cigarette Butts, Signs and Dog P**p & P*e. The bumpout volunteers work hard throughout the year to keep our downtown looking beautiful, respect their time by walking those extra steps to the closest trash can.
PS: Any blooming flowers are for the enjoyment of pollinators and people, please don’t pick them for your vases at home.
