On Sunday 10/25 Your Hopewell Hose Volunteers responded to a Structure Fire in the Hillside Lake 1st Due.
Hopewell Hose responded with Ladder Company 45 and Engine 15. The first arriving Chief found heavy fire conditions and transmitted a 2nd alarm. First due companies arrived on scene and began an aggressive interior attack.
Ladder Company 45 stretched a handline to begin knocking down fire on the exterior before being reassigned to bring a line to the 2nd floor. Interior crews faced heavy fire conditions forcing them out. Companies transitioned to a defensive attack in which 45’s crew operated the ladder pipe in order to darken down fire before crews could re enter to continue an interior operation. 45’s crew would then re enter the structure after transitioning back to an interior attack to help knock down remaining fire and complete overhaul.
Engine Company 15’s crew apon their arrival immediately went to work operating hand lines on the 1st floor, and opening up pockets of fire. During the transition to a defensive attack 15’s crew operated a handline on the exterior in coordination with 45’s ladder pipe before returning inside to continue fighting the 1st floor fire.
Despite adverse conditions crews were able stop the fire from progressing beyond what we arrived with. Thank you to all members of the East Fishkill Fire District, mutual aid Fire Departments, EMS units, Police, Dutchess 911 Dispatchers, and Central Hudson.
