Emma installed her Little Library project for her Eagle Scout rank. The scouts showed up in big numbers to support Emma. Troop 86 scouts aren’t just adventurous they are also studious as well. Scouts from this troop hit the honor roll on the regular. Congratulations to Emma. An amazing scout, student and friend📚🏕️

Hudson Valley Council Read Camp Reservation

Troop 86 has officially made it home from an unforgettable week in the great Adirondack Mountains!

Camp Read won't be the same and it's definitely a little cleaner after this troop packed up their campsite. Vespers were held, the final flag ceremony is in the books, and another incredible summer camp adventure has come to a close.

These Scouts walked, swam, climbed, and rowed countless miles, making memories that will last a lifetime.

The mosquitoes launched one final assault this morning, dive-bombing like a World War II fighter squadron to squeeze in their last bites, but they couldn't put a damper on an amazing week.

A huge thank you goes out to our dedicated leaders, whose time, planning, and support made this trip possible. The Scouts especially appreciated the well-timed early pit stop at Chick-fil-A on the ride home!

Mason and Evan B. did a stellar job serving as SPL and APL. Great job boys!

Welcome home, Troop 86! Thank you for representing the troop so well and for making this year's Camp Read adventure one to remember. 🏕️

The troop reporter can barely keep up with all the news bulletins coming down from the great Adirondack Mountains!

The Troop 86 Scouts are in overdrive. Mason, Ryan, Johnny, Jake, Tanner, Elijah, Jacob Brayden, and Evan B. went zip lining last night and had an absolute blast.

Mason also earned the title of Troop 86's resident mechanical engineer by repairing the hand crank on the ice cream machine, making it possible for everyone to enjoy fresh homemade ice cream. Well done SPL!

Everett proudly represented the troop in a chess tournament, showing that Scout skills extend well beyond the trails.

Keep up the outstanding work, Scouts! It sounds like your enthusiasm, teamwork, and participation have certainly caught the attention of the Camp Read leadership. Rumor has it a participation award may be headed your way. If not, you will be awarded one by your tired scribe.

Congratulations, and keep making Troop 86 proud!

During the rain, some of the scouts embraced their Woodstock vibes and created one-of-a-kind tie-dye shirts. We can't wait to see these colorful works of art once they're revealed. Great work boys!

🚨 Troop 86 Major News Bulletin! 🚨

Congratulations to Elijah, who earned his First Class rank tonight! 🌟

Not even the rain could dampen this scout’s spirit. After working hard all day on merit badges, Elijah returned to camp and continued pushing toward his next milestone showing the determination and perseverance that define a true scout.

This dedication is what makes Troop 86 so successful. Our scouts stay focused on their goals, and the "secret sauce" behind producing so many Eagle Scouts is simple: committed scouts supported by an outstanding, dedicated team of adult leaders who invest countless hours mentoring and encouraging every scout to succeed. Crystal, Lou, Dan and Aracely aren’t missing a beat supporting scouts at camp. Word from the adults is the boys have been great - a wonderful group having an amazing time collectively. They are even showering without being told.

Congratulations again, Elijah! Keep climbing the trail to Eagle is looking brighter every step of the way! 🦅

Camp Read Weather Report 🌧️

Word in from Crystal is that it's raining at Camp Read, but the Scouts aren't letting the weather slow them down. They're making the best of every activity and proving once again that this troop is always prepared!

Back home, leaders are jokingly surprised that a giant clear waterproof bubble complete with air conditioning hasn't been installed over camp yet!

Looks like we're getting another memorable "Eskimo Run" performance. Rain or shine, the adventure continues! The trailer snack stash is definitely getting tapped into…

Late edition. Troop 86 Summer Camp Update! 🏕️🔥

Despite Mother Nature borrowing some smoky air from our neighbors to the north, Troop 86 is in full summer camp mode!

The campfire was a hit, complete with plenty of s'mores, while Evan B. provided the soundtrack on his guitar. Charlie S. even stopped by to visit his troop while taking a break from work duties.

During the evening camp was shook by thunder but these hard working lads didn’t wake from their hard day of work. The leaders on the other hand were shaking in their boots.

Jake, Jacob and Everett showed absolutely zero fear as they conquered the tallest tower in the Northeast. Apparently, gravity was just a suggestion.

The boys are also becoming bocce ball legends. Conveniently located next to the trading post, the bocce court has seen more action than the snack line.

Mason ventured off to Wilderness Survival, while Jake and Evan B. took to the lake with some rowing. Elijah, Jace, Ryan, Johnny, Evan G., Brayden, David, Tanner, and Everett have been hard at work knocking out merit badge requirements, and everyone got involved in team-building activities.

Morale is high, spirits are higher, and all scouts are accounted for. The only thing still pending? A promised "proof of life" photo from our leaders... We're beginning to suspect they're enjoying camp a little too much.

Stay tuned for more adventures from Troop 86!
