Nowadays, trucks aren’t cheap! 🚒🚑

Because of that, we take care of them the best we can. Over the past few weeks, members have begun the annual process of waxing all the trucks. This includes all the ambulances, Forestry trucks, Engines, Command cars, Utility truck, and our Ladder truck.

Today, between calls and training, members waxed Engine 2, Utility 1 and Ambulance 1.

When we get new apparatus, we make sure to keep them sparkling, shiny, and ready to respond to the next emergency!

Group 4 had homemade sushi on the menu tonight, and it did not disappoint!🍣

People often see firefighters at the grocery store and may not realize that station meals are bought and cooked by the crew, with members usually rotating who shops and cooks for each other.

In this job, we spend long hours together, sometimes living at the station for multiple days. Cooking as a crew and sitting around the firehouse table for a meal is a great way to build the relationships and trust we rely on during calls.

Sometimes our meals get left half cooked or are waiting for us when we get back, but that’s all part of this awesome job!

Tonight, Group 2 celebrated a birthday!

Probationary Firefighter Rory Doris turns 21 today. Firefighter Doris spent this milestone birthday on shift, serving the town of Hooksett. However, after a group dinner, his crew surprised him with an ice cream cake, finished with birthday candles.

Please help us wish Firefighter Rory Doris a happy 21st birthday!🎂🎈

Group 2 was at Southern New Hampshire University today, practicing hoseline deployments in less-than-perfect situations. This is just one example of how your Hooksett firefighters train as much as possible to be prepared in an emergency scenario. Big thanks to SNHU for allowing us to train on campus!

Ever wonder what’s in all of those dang compartments?? 🚒

Here is a nicely organized view of (almost) everything carried on a Hooksett engine! This doesn’t even include the thousands of feet of hose or ladders.

Medical equipment, rope rescue gear, water rescue equipment, vehicle extrication tools, hazmat equipment, lighting, saws, self-contained breathing apparatus, and many other specialized tools and equipment - it really shows how many different skills firefighters need to be proficient in.

Once a new member is checked off on a vehicle, they’re expected to know where every single piece of equipment belongs. Every compartment has a purpose, and every tool has a job.

Feel free to ask any questions about what you see!

Our Hooksett residents are the best! Thank you to Maureen Hirtle for her continued support. She was kind enough to drop off a cake for International Firefighters’ Day, and treats for our favorite pup, Steve!
