This year marks the 25th anniversary of 9/11. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs National Cemetery Administration (NCA) reached out to the American Legion Auxiliary, asking for ALA members from across the country to participate in a special day of service on Sept. 12.

Across the country on Sept. 12 at 10 a.m. local time, national cemeteries will have volunteers cleaning headstones and beautifying the sites for the National Day of Service and Remembrance. 🇺🇸

It was a great turn out for our first Veterans Breakfast at Garden Spot Village. I spoke to some from several different eras and stories of service. We had Naval, Army, Marines and Air Force. Some stationed state side others in Foreign counties. One Veteran was in Africa, that was a shock he was the first I have spoken with that had ever had been there. I listen to stories and enjoyed the company. THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR SERVICE.

The American Legion Auxiliary is dedicated to honoring and recognizing veterans, a trait shared by Honor Flight Network Inc. Together, the ALA sponsored an unforgettable and history-making Lone Eagle Honor Flight to honor female veterans who served during the Korean and Vietnam wars. Check out the ALA blog to read from a few veterans who shared their story and the trip’s impact with us. ➡️ www.ALAforVeterans.org/Blog/ALA-sponsors-first-Lone-Eagle-Honor-Flight

This morning The Auxiliary got to honor some of our veterans at Garden Spot Village. I listened to stories from the times they were in the service, stories of ones which none of us could imagine. War time stories of unreal tragic memories. I also listened to Tom on how he got to paint (I'm thinking swift boats?} Hope I got it right Tom lol he was hanging there holding on with one hand, a bucket and a paint brush. Wow can you imagine doing that today? One gentlemen told of how he got to be the Admiral (son) lol another told stories of him as a pharmacist and had stories about being there when men came back from combat.
We had veterans from all branches of the service most of them from Vietnam and a few from Korea.
All I can say is THANK YOU ALL FOR OUR FREEDOM AND YOUR CALL TO DEFEND IT.

Have you ever wondered how you can help support your local volunteer firefighters? Sometimes it’s the simple things that make the biggest difference.

As we head into the warmer summer months, staying prepared to serve our community means ensuring our firefighters remain properly hydrated while operating on emergency scenes. You can help by donating bottled water, sports drinks, and other hydrating beverages that can be carried on our apparatus and used during incidents and training events.

Donations may be dropped off at the fire station and placed by the flagpole, or you can email [email protected] to arrange for someone to meet you at the station.

Your support directly helps keep our members ready to answer the call when our community needs us most.

From the Officers and Members of the Honey Brook Fire Company, thank you for your continued generosity and support.
