Trump's second term cabinet is made up of fewer women than his first and one by one, as they go out the door, they're all being replaced by men.

For comparison, The Washington Post reports, "at this point in President Joe Biden’s term, women had been nominated for 199 out of 379 roles, comprising 52.5 percent of appointees. And at this point in Trump’s first term, women had been nominated or announced for 41 of 173 of those roles, comprising 23.7 percent of appointees."

New York lawmakers have passed a bill that would make it illegal to shackle pregnant women in police custody during labor and delivery.

Seriously, that wasn't illegal before. Just last month, Samantha Randazzo gave birth while handcuffed to a bench during an arraignment in Brooklyn.

It sparked national outcry and pushed lawmakers to move on the bill that was first proposed years ago. It heads to Governor Kathy Hochul's desk next.

The House has voted to slash $141 million in funding for fruit and vegetable benefits that women and children receive.

It's estimated that monthly benefits would be cut significantly. For example, breastfeeding mothers would go from receiving $52/mo to just $13 and young children would go from receiving $26/mo to just $10.

7,000 people's lives will be affected by the leadership of one person and it appears no one in this Long Island town is up eager for the responsibility. Bayville is a small town that is set to vote for their newest mayor on June 16th. One small issue? No one is running for office.

So what happens? Instead of having a handful of candidates to choose from, voters will head to the polls only to be me with a blank line where they can write in their nomination and whoever ends up with the most votes wins.

What are your thoughts? Have we forgotten the importance of local politics? Why isn't anyone running for office? Why are people running uncontested across the U.S.?
