Even with the weatherman warning of a scorching 94° heat index in the shade, Tyler Cox showed up ready to help at Hill County Paw Pals! Fresh off graduating from UT with a Chemistry degree, Tyler spent his Sunday afternoon pitching in with essential shelter chores. Thank you, Tyler, for your energy, enthusiasm, and willingness to brave the Texas heat for our animals. Volunteers like you make all the difference! 🐾

Compassion is the heartbeat of every animal rescuer. While it shows up in many forms, Jenifer Stine’s compassion is truly exceptional. For three months, Jenifer patiently befriended a clowder of four abandoned cats living in tough conditions. One by one, she gently rescued them, ensuring each received complete veterinary care—including vaccinations, deworming, and sterilization surgery. Now, these once-forgotten cats are healthy, happy, and ready for their forever loving homes. Volunteers like Jenifer are the heart and soul of Paw Pals. Their dedication makes rescues like this possible every single day.
If you’ve ever wanted to make a real difference, we invite you to join our team. The work is deeply rewarding, the gratitude from the animals is genuine, and the personal fulfillment is guaranteed. Become a Paw Pals volunteer today — your compassion could be the next story we celebrate. Please call 254-580-0679; email [email protected]; or visit hcpawpals.org.

What an incredible triumph of love! ❤️ “Susanna” was rescued after she was found tethered to a pole for months on end, with no shelter and no human kindness. She arrived at Paw Pals as a terrified, broken soul. But through months of patient, gentle care, her trust in people was slowly reborn, and she blossomed into a sweet, loving girl!! Through volunteer drivers, she was driven to North Carolina to her new home. Each volunteer poured their compassion into roughly 88 miles of the journey. Susanna now lives like royalty, surrounded by the warmth and love of her new family. This is the power of caring hearts—one deserving life at a time. Volunteers like these remind us daily that goodness still exists in the world. Susanna’s journey proves that hope has four legs, and it’s never too late for a beautiful ending.

Paw Pals was delighted to welcome the Hillsboro Elementary School Pre-K through 3rd grade “Compassion in Action” group for a special visit. This program, which has been adopted across Hillsboro ISD schools, guides students in turning empathy into meaningful action by practicing kindness, supporting others and contributing positively to their school community. Its guiding formula is: Courage + Gratitude + Forgiveness + Compassion-in-Action = Choosing Love. The program honors “Champions” who consistently embody these values. Paw Pals is truly grateful to have been selected as a focus for this outstanding group. A heartfelt thank you to school counselor Melissa Dillon, along with Rebecca Finch, Kimberly Patin, Alexas Dickinson, and Tara Gump for their dedicated leadership in nurturing these compassionate young leaders of the future. Special appreciation also goes to our Paw Pals hosts, Julie Cauzza and Victoria Stine.

This is a story of pure compassion — a tribute to every animal lover who refuses to look away. My name is “Baby-boy”. I was less than a day old, umbilical cord still attached, when I was torn from my mother. Cold, frightened, and alone, all I wanted was to live. At that age, my only working senses were scent, touch and the feeling of warmth. Together, they were my entire understanding of love. Then a kind young man’s warm, gentle hands lifted me. He couldn’t bear to watch me struggle, so he reached out to Paw Pals. A loving foster family took me in and wrapped me in the warmth, nourishment and care I had never known. For five beautiful days I fought with everything my tiny heart had, safe and surrounded by love. In the end, I slipped away peacefully… never alone. Thanks to those compassionate humans, I was given a name and a family — even if only for a little while. My heart knew real love before I left. If my short life touches you, please continue to support the organizations that help companion animals in need. Every rescue, every foster home, every act of kindness makes a difference.
With love,
“Baby-boy” ♥️
