On loan from the U.S. Army, the Howitzer in Memorial Park has been restored by volunteers from the American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary. Please take some time to check out this unique piece of history in our community!

In service: 1943–present
Wars:
World War II
First Indochina War
Korean War
The howitzer was used by the U.S. Army during World War II. It was issued to airborne units and the cannon companies of infantry regiments.
Production started in February 1943 and continued until May 1944; an additional batch was produced from April to June 1945.

Thank you to everyone that came out to pay honor to our veterans on Memorial Day. We hope all enjoyed the park over the weekend, and that it's beauty inspired to remember and thank those that we have lost.

Memorial day service, 1000 hours, Monday the 25th, in Hillsboro Memorial Park.

Steak feed after service, 1200 hours at American Legion Post 366.

Just a reminder that you have two days left to beat the deadline to come and enjoy the dinner and the dance at Hillsboro American Legion 03 66 on Valentine’s Day! Advanced tickets only must be paid for by the end of the day tomorrow February 12. Dinner and dance combo ticket per person is $30, dance only at the door is $20, dinner only ticket to go only is $20. And again dinner is a large smoked pork chop, cheesy potatoes, supreme green beans, and a special Valentine’s Day dessert. Don’t miss it.
