🍎 Hunger Action Month: Host a Snack Drive! 🥨

Did you know that Rise distributes an estimated 28,900 snacks every year to community locations throughout Hightstown and East Windsor, including local libraries, Hightstown High School, Rise Thrift, and the Thrift Store Annex?

That’s an average of 550 snacks every week during the school year and 575 every week during the summer! These grab-and-go snacks help make sure children, teens, families, and community members have something to eat when they need it. 💙

Want to take action this Hunger Action Month? Host a snack drive for Rise! Gather your coworkers, classmates, scout troop, faith community, neighborhood, or friends and collect individually packaged, shelf-stable snacks to help keep our pantry stocked throughout the year.

Every granola bar, applesauce pouch, cracker pack, or box of snacks may seem small, but together, our community can make a BIG difference. Let’s stock the shelves and fight hunger, one snack at a time! 🧃

📩 Interested in hosting a drive? Contact us at [email protected] to get started!

🌞 Throwback Thursday: Summer at Rise! 💙

As we get excited for the Labor Day weekend ahead, we're looking back on an incredible summer and celebrating the 106 children and youth from 80 local families who spent six weeks learning, exploring, growing, and making memories at Rise Summer Camp! From academics and creative activities to recreation, water safety, field trips, and social-emotional support, every week brought new opportunities for campers to discover something new.

This summer, campers took 15 exciting field trips and participated in special events, strengthened their academic skills, practiced water safety, and built friendships along the way. We’re especially proud that 100% of surveyed parents said their children were engaged and excited about camp. Parents also report that they were extremely satisfied and felt their children were safe in our hands.

A huge thank-you to our incredible campers, families, staff, volunteers, partners, and supporters who made this summer possible. We’re already looking forward to making more memories and creating more opportunities for local children next summer! ☀️📚🏊‍♀️🚌

We’re ushering in Hunger Action Month with some BIG news from our Rise Pantry. Recently, our friends from the East Brunswick Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints donated pallets full of non-perishable food items to our pantry! The Church’s welfare system operates farms, food-processing facilities and bishops’ storehouses to provide food for those in need, both through its own congregations and through partnerships with food banks and community organizations. Each year, millions of pounds of food are shared with organizations across the country that are serving individuals and families in their local communities.

“For The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, this delivery represents more than a truckload of food—it is one way we put our faith into action by caring for our neighbors. That’s why we are so grateful for our longstanding partnership with RISE and for the remarkable work they do every day. They know their community and the families they serve, and they serve them with dignity, compassion and genuine care.” - Dirk Lindeman, Stake President.

We are so grateful for the ongoing support of community partners like these, and their dedication to action against hunger for our neighbors in need. 💙

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported Rise’s Annual Backpack Drive! 🎒💙 Thanks to the incredible generosity of our donors, we have distributed more than 750 backpacks filled with school supplies to local children from low-income families. Every backpack represents more than school supplies, it represents a community coming together to help children start the school year feeling prepared, confident, and ready to learn.

This year, we were also excited to give families the opportunity to shop through our Rise Choice Pantry and select the backpacks and school supplies that best met their children’s individual needs. This personalized approach helped ensure that every child received supplies that were useful and appropriate for their grade and circumstances. We are so grateful to everyone who donated, volunteered, and helped make this year's Backpack Drive a success. Together, you helped more than 750 local children put their best foot forward this school year! 📚✏️

🥫💙 September is Hunger Action Month, let’s take action together.

Food insecurity is growing in New Jersey. According to a recent analysis of federal data, 13% of New Jersey residents experienced food insecurity in 2024, a 75% increase since 2020. Even more concerning, more than half of those experiencing food insecurity earned too much to qualify for SNAP benefits, leaving many working families and individuals without access to federal food assistance.

That’s why community support for local food pantries matters now more than ever. Throughout Hunger Action Month, you can help Rise stock our Pantry and provide nutritious food and essential items to our neighbors in need. 🥫🍎

Recently, our staff attended an AI training day at Mercer County Community College! Made possibly by a partnership and grant funding, the training allowing our team to develop and grow our knowledge base and consider ways that AI can help streamline our processes.

We are constantly looking for ways to better ourselves so that we may serve our community efficiently and with purpose. Thanks to Mercer County Community College for helping us to make our goals a reality.
