Empowering middle & high school girls to seek a STEM career and fill the pipelines through career exploration, job shadowing, networking and mentoring. Many times our members have an opportunity to participate in a hands on activity in field trips to help them immerse themselves in the industry. For instance, our s
tudents were able to create their own drop-sone into a wind tunnel at NCAR in Boulder (pictured above). Some of our previous field trips have included Google, NCAR, ViaSat, Microsoft, and Keysight. Upcoming in the remaining part of the semester, we will be going to the MSU Forensic Lab and Keystone Science School. We offer field trips for both middle school and high school girls. We use round-table discussions to give our members an opportunity to ask professionals in various industries any questions. Round table discussions tend to be more intimate setting for conversations between members and presenters. Our intention is for members to make a personal connection with the women presenting in order for them to see themselves in the industry. Our topics have ranged from Meteorology (pictured above) to Minorities in STEM. Upcoming in the remaining part of the semester we will be having forensics discussion as well as speaking with a professional from Raytheon. We offer round table discussions for both high school and middle school students. Usually, as members continue to progress through their high school careers, they become more and more drawn to a specific industry. At this point, we set up a job shadowing experience for them in the industry of their choice. This helps our high school students gain some experience before they attend college and allows to make a more personal connection with a professional in their industry of choice. We hope this relationship will lead to internships opportunities in college and more networking opportunities for our members.
