• Mental Health Awareness •

Healing is not just about reducing symptoms. Holistic healing recognizes that stress, relationships, sleep, nutrition, trauma, community support, and access to resources all impact mental health outcomes.

Colorado Research done by the Department of Public Health and Environment found that people make greater progress when behavioral health care addresses both emotional well-being and everyday life stressors together.

At Manna Resource Center, we believe healing happens through connection, support, and practical care.

We hope mental health awareness continues far beyond a monthly observance and becomes a lifelong practice. 💚

• Mental Health Awareness •

Today’s topic on behalf of Mental Health Awareness Month is Empathy. 💚

Empathy is the ability to understand how another person feels and to feel with them. At the core of empathy is respect, dignity, and intention.

At MRC we meet people where they are, especially in seasons of grief or transition while creating space for real connection.

Creating a safe space for individuals and families to express a full range of emotions is vital. It helps us recognize the whole person and not just a single moment or struggle.

We believe empathy is at the heart of connection. Empathy allows us to build trust, strengthen relationships, and support individuals and families in meaningful ways.

We hope you will practice empathy this month! 💚

• Mental Health Awareness Month •

In acknowledgment of Mental Health Awareness Month, MRC models a community where it’s safe to be open about mental health. 💚

We encourage everyone to break the silence in a safe and supportive space. Remember, you don't have to carry your heavy burdens alone!

In our community (Douglas County, Colorado), 29.4% of youth reported having poor mental health most of the time or always, which is higher than the state average (28.4%). That means many young people are struggling quietly.

Starting the conversation early matters.

Practical Tools & Helpful Tips:
* Use simple language like, “It’s okay to not be okay.”
* Look for patterns, not perfection: Notice ongoing changes in behavior rather than one-off moments
* Ask open-ended questions: How have you been feeling lately?
* Listen without rushing to fix: Feeling heard is often the first step toward healing
* Act early: If something feels off, trust your instincts and seek support
* Model openness: When adults talk about emotions, young people learn it’s safe to do the same

We recognize that early support is protective. Asking for help on behalf of a child, teen, or young adult is not a sign of failure—it’s an act of care, advocacy, and strength. 💚

• Mental Health Awareness Month •

A recent survey from Colorado Health Institute and Over Zero found that 21.7% of Coloradans (1.2 million people) are experiencing loneliness often or always.

At MRC we believe that healing happens in connection.

This month we encourage our community to be gentle and honest about their mental health journey. Allowing yourself to be known, especially during difficult times, creates space for connection, support and healing.

How MRC Acknowledges Mental Health:
• We are committed to creating spaces where people feel they belong
• We help build identity development skills through our Empowerment Cohorts
• We offer a supportive community rooted in trust and connection

Our hope is that everyone who walks through our doors feels seen and safe showing up exactly as they are, wherever they are in their mental wellness journey.
