The California Botanic Garden summer movie series is kicking off June 11th! Check it out!!

Calling all nature and movie nerds! CalBG's Cinema Botanica summer movie series is back on Thursday, June 11th at 7 PM (movie starts at dusk c. 8:15 PM) with a documentary double feature that will have you gasping at the beauty of California's majestic ecosystems and giggling at the adorable antics of some of our tiniest neighbors.

🌸 The night will start off with a live premiere screening of Bloom California, a brand new 30-minute documentary filmed in part at California Botanic Garden! From sweeping superblooms to backyard gardens, this special film explores California’s fragile ecosystems and the growing movement to restore them. Scientists, Indigenous leaders, and everyday residents reveal how planting native species can reconnect fragmented habitats and support biodiversity across the state.
🐛 The night will finish up with an up-close look at The Extraordinary Caterpillar! This 60-minute documentary produced by Doug Tallamy's Homegrown National Park is a deep dive into the weird and wonderful world of the tiny creatures that help power whole ecosystems. You'll learn all about the extraordinary lives of caterpillars and how they depend on our native plants.
🍿 Every paid ticket to Cinema Botanica comes with a free popcorn with optional Taste Wild native plant toppings! (Stay tuned: flavor announcements coming soon). Additional popcorn and drinks will be available for purchase before and during the films.
🖍️ Come early: venue opens at 7 PM for pre-movie themed crafts and trivia!

Grab your tickets today at https://www.calbg.org/event/cinema-botanica-beautiful-biodiversity-documentaries.

The Waterwise Community Center is such a great place to check out wonderful native landcape ideas in addition to just enjoying a beautiful and relaxing public space.

When you're there you can see how native plants, many that you can buy in the nursery, will look when they establish and get ideas on how you can plant these plants together for all different spaces in your yard.
