Things got a little hectic around Role Player last week, but we absolutely did not want to forget introducing the final member of our wagon party.

Please welcome Noah Daulton as “Father” in The Trail to Oregon!

We’re incredibly excited to have him leading this disaster of a family westward.

Which means the wagon is officially full.

Now all that’s left is bad decisions, questionable survival instincts, and whatever horrible things McDoon has planned for everybody.

Story Lab is a week-long collaborative storytelling camp for kids ages 8 to 13 at the Greensboro Cultural Center. Campers create characters, go on magical adventures together, solve problems as a group, and turn those experiences into stories and journals they can take home at the end of the week.

The goal is simple. We want kids to have a place where creativity, communication, and imagination are encouraged. Much of the camp focuses on storytelling, teamwork, creative writing, and learning how to work together in a supportive environment.

No experience is needed. Kids who already love fantasy and games tend to enjoy it, but it is just as welcoming for kids who like drawing, writing, acting things out, or making up stories on the spot.

Each camper also takes home a set of dice, any crafts made during the week, and a personal Story Journal based on their adventures.

Because this is our inaugural year, the next 10 students to use the code NEWADVENTURE will receive $25 off class registration.

We keep group sizes small so every camper has a chance to contribute to the story. So register soon!

All proceeds support future free storytelling programs for kids in the Triad, helping expand access to creative learning, communication skills, and collaborative problem solving through storytelling.

The wagon is packed, the oxen are fed, and dysentery is waiting around the corner. Role Player is incredibly excited to introduce the brave pioneers risking it all in our upcoming production of The Trail to Oregon!

Meet the party:

Ally Shelton as "Mother"

Rebbekkah Eller as "Daughter"

Lee Rock as "Son"

Morah Caidin as "Grandpa/Cletus"

Richard Cameron as "McDoon/Everyone Else"

But as you can see from the character select screen, our party is missing one crucial member. Due to a scheduling conflict, our original "Father" had to step off the wagon, which means we are officially looking for a Dad.

If you know a great male-identifying performer (specifically a tenor with strong vocals) who wants to lead this chaotic family West, have them reach out to us!

Mark your calendars for August 21st–23rd! We have late-night Unfiltered Editions on Friday and Saturday, plus a PG Edition matinee on Sunday.

Check out the link in comments to grab tickets, and find out more info!

Today, we are celebrating the mothers, grandmothers, mentors, caretakers, and chosen family members who encouraged creativity, supported imagination, drove us to rehearsals/practice, listened to us ramble about character ideas and story concepts, and really helped shape who we became.

For many of us, the arts/this creativity only happens because someone believed in us first.

So from everyone at Role Player,

Happy Mother’s Day! And thank you for helping our stories grow!

New Year Update at Role Player:

We believe that stories are the threads that bind us together, regardless of age or background. We are deeply honored to announce a new partnership with Homestead Hills in Winston-Salem. Every second and fourth Tuesday of each month, we will be sitting down with some residents to begin weaving exciting new tales together.

There is something truly special about seeing a lifetime of wisdom meet the spark of a new adventure. We aren't just rolling dice here; we are creating a space where imagination has no retirement age and every voice at the table is heard.

Our Party is Growing:

To make more of these moments possible, we need more storytellers. We are looking for GMs from age 16 to 106 who believe in the power of human connection. Whether you are a young creator just starting to find your voice or a seasoned narrator with decades of experience, your presence can make a huge difference.

Looking Forward:

While we are just beginning our preliminary conversations for free weekly library sessions this summer, our focus remains on bringing light and adventure to those who need it the most. We are currently grant writing and fundraising to ensure our programs reach hospitals, care centers, and schools across the region.

If you believe in the magic of a shared story, please consider supporting us. Even the smallest of gifts helps us to bring new worlds to life.

If you haven’t had the chance yet, we’d love your support this Giving Tuesday.

At Role Player, we use tabletop role-playing games to open doors for kids who might not otherwise get the chance to explore creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving. TTRPGs aren’t just games. They build real, research-supported skills like:

-- Critical thinking
-- Reading comprehension & narrative skills
-- Teamwork, communication, and social confidence
-- Creative expression and emotional resilience

For kids in hospitals, group homes, or tough environments, these games become more than a pastime; they’re a lifeline. A moment to escape. A chance to be the hero. An opportunity to work together, solve problems, and imagine something bigger than the walls around them.

This Giving Tuesday, we’re raising funds to create Role Playing Kits and a Mobile GM Station, allowing us to bring full adventures to the kids who can’t come to us.

If you believe in the power of storytelling (and the difference it can make) we’d be grateful for your support. Every dollar helps.

Thank you for helping us bring imagination, learning, and adventure to the kids who need it most!
