Rotarian Julie Packer recently retired from Carolina Caring after serving in this organization for 34 years. She has made an incredible impact in our community in this role. During the September 2, 2026 meeting, Hickory Mayor and Rotarian Hank Guess presented the Order of the Long Leaf Pine award on behalf of NC Governor Josh Stein. The Order of the Long Leaf Pine is one of NC’s highest civilian honors awarded by the Governor to recognize people who have made extraordinary contributions to the state and their communities. Executive Director of the Hickory Music Factory (HMF) Liam Bailey gave an excellent program at the September 2, 2026 meeting. HMF’s mission statement is “Building futures through music by teaching, performance and community outreach.” Rotarians enjoyed the program so much we hope to have a social at HMF to learn more about this incredible organization, which is a newly funded affiliate of Arts Culture Catawba. Welcome Nikkita Gibson to the Rotary Club of Hickory Rotary District 7670. She was inducted at the September 2, 2026 meeting. Her sponsor is Dan Swan. Nikkita is a financial advisor and well known in our community. She served on the Hickory Youth Council when she was in high school, and has volunteered for many groups over the years and loves our community. She is going to be an amazing Rotarian.Dan Swan

Hickory Rotarian Doug Rongo received his third Paul Harris Fellow (PHF) at the August 5, 2026 meeting. PHF is a prestigious recognition given by Rotary International to honor individuals who contribute $1,000 or more to the Foundation. PHF is named after the founder of Rotary, the award celebrates a strong commitment to community and global service. We had an awesome program at our August 5 club meeting. Rotarian Douglas Locascio with Hickory Crawdads and two baseball pitchers talked about baseball ⚾️ The Crawdads are having a great season and these two young men are amazing and we heard their stories of how they got where they are today.
