RCP is delighted to kick off our 60th anniversary season with a hilarious romp through New Orleans.

In Once Upon a Mattress, Princess Fred splashes into court and turns tradition on its jeweled head, taking on riddles, royal challenges and one imperious queen determined to keep her son single. As she woos the brave Prince Dauntless, twenty mattresses and a single squishy pea stand between true love and happily ever after.

Filled with catchy songs, playful characters, fantastic locations and humorous situations, the classic musical comedy explores themes of love, courage and the quest for acceptance. Its charming narrative and lively performances make it a delightful experience for audiences of all ages.
