🌟 NLC Qualifier Spotlight: ELLIOT GEERS🌟

Hermann FCCLA is proud to recognize Elliot Geers as he prepares to represent our chapter at the National Leadership Conference in Washington DC July 6-10th.

He qualified for NLC and will be competing on two events:

🥒 Food Innovations

Elliot combined creativity, nutrition, and local agriculture to develop a unique snack product featuring hyperlocal zucchini sourced from local growers. His innovative zucchini chips are seasoned with a dill pickle blend made from dehydrated and ground pickles using his family's homemade recipe, along with a Kansas City-inspired BBQ flavor. Designed to meet school nutrition guidelines, the product provides functional health benefits while educating consumers about the importance of supporting local food sources.

🎂 Pastry Arts Technical Decorating Skills – Level 2

In addition to Food Innovations, Elliot will showcase his precision and artistic talent in Pastry Arts Technical Decorating Skills. This event challenges participants to demonstrate advanced cake decorating techniques and pastry arts skills while creating a professional sample board that meets national event specifications.

Elliot's dedication, creativity, attention to detail, and passion for good food embody the spirit of FCCLA. We are excited to watch him represent Hermann FCCLA and Missouri on the national stage!

🚜🌭 Support Our Competitors!🌭🚜

Join us on Saturday, June 20th at 9:30 AM at Live Equipment Auction featuring FFA student auctioneers at the Schneider Auctioneers LLC Auction Facility. Grab a meal from our concession stand and come support the live auction and these students.

FCCLA Nationals Qualifiers will be serving food and refreshments throughout the auction. Concession proceeds will offset travel and competition expenses.

Stop by for lunch or snack, enjoy the auction, and help support these outstanding young leaders as they take the next step in their journey.

🌟 NLC Qualifier Spotlight: Taylor Lauer🌟

Hermann FCCLA is proud to recognize Taylor Lauer, who will represent our chapter at the FCCLA National Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C., July 6–10.

Taylor has not only qualified for NLC but will compete in three national events:

🎤 Career Investigation– An individual event that recognizes participants for their ability to assess personal interests and skills, research career opportunities, set career goals, and develop a plan for achieving them through a portfolio and oral presentation about her chosen career as a High School Band Instructor.

🎙️ Impromptu Speaking – An event that challenges participants to think quickly and communicate effectively by delivering a speech on a Family and Consumer Sciences or FCCLA-related topic without prior preparation. Competitors demonstrate poise, confidence, organization, and strong communication skills.

📚 *FCCLA Knowledge Challenge Test– A competitive assessment that allows members to demonstrate their knowledge and college- and career-readiness skills in Family and Consumer Sciences and related fields.

In addition to qualifying for nationals, Taylor has been selected as a Top 15 Semi-Finalist for the FCCLA Member of the Year Award, presented by the U.S. Army. Taylor represents the very best of FCCLA and stands among the top student leaders in the country. This achievement reflects her dedication, leadership, service, and positive impact within our chapter, school, and community.

Taylor has spent countless hours preparing for these events through research, studying, presentation practice, and sharpening communication skills. Her commitment to excellence and passion for FCCLA have earned her recognition at both the state and national levels.

We could not be more proud of all Taylor has achieved and are excited to watch her represent Hermann FCCLA, Hermann High School, and Missouri FCCLA on the national stage. Congratulations, Taylor, and best of luck at NLC!

🥐✨ NLC Qualifier Spotlight: Grace Engemann✨🥐

Hermann FCCLA is proud to recognize Grace Engemann, who will represent our chapter at the FCCLA National Leadership Conference in Washington, July 6–10.

Grace will compete in the Baking and Pastry STAR Event, an individual competition that challenges participants to demonstrate advanced baking and pastry skills through the preparation of a quick bread, choux pastry, cookies, and cake decorating techniques. Competitors receive menu items at the event and must prepare and present their creations to evaluators with limited time.

Over the past several weeks, Grace has been hard at work perfecting formulas, refining techniques, and building the precision and confidence needed to compete on the national stage. Her dedication, attention to detail, and passion for baking ans pastry have prepared her well for this exciting opportunity.

We are excited to watch Grace showcase her talents and represent Hermann FCCLA, Hermann High School, and Missouri FCCLA at the National Leadership Conference. Congratulations, Grace, and best of luck as you take your skills to the national level! 🎂🇺🇸

FCCLA National Leadership Conference competitors recently participated in a Pastry Arts Technical Decorating mentorship session led by Little Bay Cakes. During the visit, students received hands-on instruction and feedback as they prepared for the national competition in Washington, D.C.

The Pastry Arts Technical Decorating event requires competitors to complete a client-requested sample board in 30 minutes, demonstrating professional decorating techniques, precision, creativity, and presentation skills. Focusing mostly on forming roses, students practiced a variety of industry-standard decorating methods while learning tips and techniques from experienced professionals.

Hermann FCCLA extends its appreciation to Little Bay Cakes for investing their time, expertise, and encouragement in our students. Community partnerships like these provide valuable real-world learning experiences and help prepare students for success at the national level.
