🎄 We hope you stop by and see us the next two weekends at Hermann's annual Christkindlmarkt, a holiday tradition that has history as far back as the 16th century in Germany! 🇩🇪

🎁 The Deutschheim Verein will have a booth at Stone Hill Winery this Saturday and Sunday, December 7th and 8th, and at the Festhalle (at Hermannhof) next weekend, the 14th and 15th. ✨ We're so excited to continue to offer hand-blown German Inge-glas ornaments and traditional hand-carved German smokers and pyramids, all the proceeds of which will help continue the Verein's mission of supporting Deutschheim State Historic Site. 👋 We hope to see you there!

You're invited to an Open House tomorrow evening with Deutschheim State Historic Site!

🏠 The Strehly House Winery
130 W. Second Street, Hermann, MO

Visitors are invited to view this newly re-vamped historic winery and visit with site administrator Lori Cody, who will share future plans and answer attendees’ questions. We hope to see you there!

The winery’s history goes back to 1843, when Carl Strehly, publisher of the Hermanner Wochenblatt weekly newspaper, along with his editor Eduard Muehl, acquired land on one of the eastern hillsides in town to plant a vineyard. Unfortunately, Muehl died in 1854, but Strehly continued to work on construction of the winery, which opened in 1857.

The current winery exhibit in the pressroom offers a stunning forced perspective wall mural, in the form of full-size photos of the extensive cellar below, lending the visitor an impression of gazing into the actual cellar. Also on display is a collection of cask and barrel making tools, antique winemaking equipment, and the Bacchus cask made for Franz Langendoerfer in 1875.

Missouri Wines will be on hand, featuring local Missouri wines for tasting during the exhibit opening.
