🐾❤️ SOME GOOD NEWS FROM HENDERSON HUMANE! ❤️🐾

We are happy to share some encouraging news as we continue navigating the recent parvovirus outbreak at our shelter!

🎉 Sammy has tested NEGATIVE for parvo! 🎉

After showing improvement and acting like his normal self, Sammy was retested by the veterinarian and received a negative result! He is doing well, and we are thrilled to share this update!

Even more good news: We have had no additional dogs exhibiting symptoms! 🙌

Out of an abundance of caution, we are continuing our enhanced cleaning, monitoring, and safety protocols.

🐶 OUR REOPENING PLAN 🐶

If no additional dogs develop symptoms over the next 48 hours, we plan to REOPEN THURSDAY, OCTOBER 15, AT 12:00 PM!

Our priority throughout this situation has been protecting the health and well-being of every animal in our care.

We are incredibly grateful to our veterinary partners, dedicated staff, volunteers, and community for your patience, encouragement, and support during this challenging time.

We also continue to remember the sweet lives we lost during this outbreak. 💔 Every animal matters, and their safety will always guide our decisions.

Thank you for standing with us. We can’t wait to welcome you back! 🐾❤️

🐾 Meet Lyle!🐾

Lyle came to us as a stray at the end of September, and while we may not know much about his past, we do know one thing — he’s ready for a fresh start in a loving home!🏡❤️

Lyle seems to do well with other dogs, but he hasn’t been cat tested yet. 🐶🐱

While we’re temporarily closed for adoptions due to quarantine, you can still get a head start by submitting your adoption application for this handsome boy! 📝✨ That way, you’ll be ready to go when we reopen!

Let’s help Lyle find his way back to a home where he belongs. Could that be with you? ❤️🐾

🐾 Parvovirus Outbreak Update: Remembering Holly & Bingo 💔

It is with incredibly heavy hearts that we share another difficult update regarding the parvovirus outbreak at Henderson Humane Society.

Sadly, we have now lost two precious dogs to this devastating virus.

💔 Holly was our first loss. Despite receiving veterinary care, Holly passed away while being treated at the veterinary hospital.

💔 Bingo had been receiving treatment at the veterinary hospital and was showing encouraging signs of improvement. We were hopeful that he would be well enough to return to us today. Tragically, Bingo took an unexpected turn for the worse and passed away yesterday, while still under veterinary care.

🐾 Sammy has now become our third confirmed positive case. He has been taken to the veterinary hospital for treatment, and we are holding on to hope for his recovery.

These dogs are not just numbers to us. They are individual lives, each deserving of love, compassion, and every opportunity to recover. Losing Holly and Bingo has been heartbreaking for everyone who cared for them.

Following the recommendation of our veterinarian, we are extending our quarantine for at least another week.

During this time, dog adoptions, intakes, and other activities involving the movement of dogs will remain suspended, except as authorized under veterinary guidance.

Our team continues to monitor the dogs in our care, follow enhanced sanitation protocols, and work closely with our veterinary partners to prevent further spread.

Parvovirus is an extremely contagious and potentially deadly illness. Even with professional veterinary treatment, some dogs do not survive. This is why we are taking the outbreak and our quarantine procedures so seriously.

We understand that an extended closure creates challenges for our community, but the health and safety of the animals entrusted to our care must come first.

We are grateful to our veterinary partners for their continued efforts, to our staff for their dedication during an incredibly difficult time, and to our community for its patience and support.

Please keep Sammy in your thoughts as he fights this virus, and join us in remembering Holly and Bingo. Their lives mattered, and they will not be forgotten. ❤️

🎤 YOU GET A KITTEN! YOU GET A KITTEN! EVERYBODY GETS A KITTEN! 🐱🎉 — Oprah, if she ran a shelter!👀

Kittens are coming in left and right, but so many are just sitting at the shelter waiting for their chance. 💔

But HOW are people possibly saying no to all these sweet babies?! 😭💕 Look at those little faces! The tiny paws! The purrsonalities! 🥹🐈

✨ WHATEVER YOU’RE LOOKING FOR, WE GOT IT! ✨
🐾 Cuddly kittens? GOT ’EM!
🐾 Playful kittens? GOT ’EM!
🐾 Silly little chaos gremlins? GOT ’EM! 😂
🐾 Your new best friend? JUST WAITING TO MEET YOU!

These babies deserve loving homes, and we would love nothing more than to see them leave the shelter and start their happily ever after. 🏡❤️

💕 While the shelter is closed to the public, Pattie is soaking up all the love from our staff!

We’re so happy to share that Pattie is absolutely on the mend after her trip to the emergency vet! ❤️‍🩹 We want to use this time to show everyone just how special this sweet girl truly is.

Pattie may be a little timid at first, but once you earn her trust, oh boy… she’s ALL about the cuddles! 🥹💕 She has so much love to give, and we can’t wait for the right person to discover just how wonderful she is.

Pattie has been with us for TWO YEARS AND COUNTING.💔 She’s spent much of that time here with her sister, but while they’ve been separated during Pattie’s healing process, both girls seem to be doing really well on their own. Sometimes, a fresh start is exactly what they need! 🐶

Here’s what Pattie is looking for:
🐾 A meet-and-greet with any dogs in the home
🐾 Someone patient enough to let her warm up and discover what a loving, cuddly girl she is! 💗

Pattie has waited long enough for her happily ever after. She deserves a family of her own, a cozy place to call home, and all the love she’s been missing. 🏡💞

Once we’re back open, our biggest hope is that Pattie has a LINE OUT THE DOOR of people waiting to meet her!🙏🥹

Two years is far too long to wait for love. Please share Pattie’s story, help us get her name out there, and let’s find this girl the forever home she deserves! ❤️

✨ Foster Friday!! ✨

While our shelter animals are in quarantine, this is the PERFECT time to showcase our adoptable animals that are currently in foster!

Meet Selina and Eddie! These two are currently in foster care and are ready for their forever homes! 🏠 While they are currently living together, they do not have to be adopted together.

Here’s a little information from their foster mom:

“We found them as kittens by Knight's Comics and they are named after Batman villains. Eddie is short for Edward Nigma aka the Riddler and Selina Kyle is Catwoman. Their names fit their personalities pretty well, Eddie being more social and goofy, while Selina is more sneaky and observant. Both are very sweet and have never been aggressive, even when cornered they are gentle. They are used to a chaotic environment with kids, dogs, and other cats but Selina would probably prefer somewhere quiet with just other cats. Eddie loves our dog, Dahlia and cuddles on the couch. Selina likes her hiding spots and high places to watch everyone. They are both fixed and microchipped.”
