I am on the board because assisting family’s from the group brings me joy and being able to give back.

5. What advice would you give a family navigating their life with a child or loved one with autism?

My advice to a family/ adult would be to stay strong, don’t ever give up, always fight for yourself/ child cause at the end of the day you are the one that knows yourself/child!

📣 New Member Spotlight 📣

We would like to extend a warm welcome to Samantha Bailey as a new member to our board!

Samantha is creative often making sensory boxes and items for children with autism. Samantha’s knowledge, understanding, as well as creativity excites us to have her join the board! Please give her a warm welcome!

1. Tell us about yourself.

I am a wife and a mother to a 7 year old girl. I have spent over 12 years working with individuals with Autism and various other disabilities, mostly focusing on emotional and behavioral disorders. I spent several years teaching special education before starting work and completing a Masters in Applied Behavior Analysis. I now use a combination of all of that knowledge to provide advocacy in the schools for students with IEPs/504 plans, as well as parent training and financial assistance as a targeted case manager here in Henderson. I also lead the Elementary ministry at my church and love to bring inclusivity everywhere I go.

2. What do you enjoy to do?

I enjoy spending time with my family, starting way too many craft projects, and serving at my church.

3. What is your favorite event so far?

I always love to attend the walk. It is such an amazing time to stand back, and look around to see all ages and abilities, fully accepted and included in fun activities. It’s also really cool for me to see how the group does a great job of bringing together a variety of community partners to help bring resources to the diverse needs the families may have.

4. Why are you on the board?

I am so excited and honored to be a part of this board because I am passionate about advocating for individuals with Autism and their families! This group is fantastic about connecting with families and resources in the area, and I hope that my experience in advocacy and building community partnerships will help all of our families!

5. What advice would you give a family navigating their life with a child or loved one with autism?

With any diagnosis, it is very possible that you may go through a grieving period. This happens because what you thought about your life and you/your child’s future is now changed. Feeling emotions related to grief doesn’t make you a bad parent or mean there’s anything wrong with you and your child. It’s just new and different, and we all cope with that differently. Find your people, but don’t feel like you have to do exactly what anyone else has done. There are a lot of really great resources; find knowledgeable and supportive people, pray about it, and ultimately just trust your gut.

So grateful to this group and their ride for autism! 😊 🧩 🏍️ Thanks BKMC KY Chapter 40 for all your support!

🏍️💙 BKMC 40 was honored to present a check to Experiencing Autism Together from proceeds raised during last month’s Autism Awareness Ride. 🧩

This would not have been possible without the incredible support from our community, organizations, clubs, businesses, and individuals who came together for such an important cause.

From everyone who attended, donated, volunteered, shared posts, and helped spread awareness — THANK YOU. Your support made a real difference, and we are truly grateful for each and every one of you.

Together, we showed the power of community, compassion, and unity. ❤️

Happy Mother’s Day to our incredible mothers!

Happy Mother’s Day 💕🌸🌷🌹

I share this post every year because it so perfectly highlights mothering a child on the autism spectrum. I am so grateful that my work as an autism dietitian has connected me to so many amazing mamas over the past 10+ years. I’m inspired by you daily and honored to support you❣️

Tag a mom you’re grateful for, inspired by, or someone who could use a little extra love this weekend! 💕

Beautiful post that keeps on giving by
