This August, join us for a unique scholarly book club with Dinesh Wadiwel, a scholar of human rights and socio-legal studies with a background in social and political theory. An expert in human-animal studies and disability rights, Wadiwel will guide participants through his influential book “Animals and Capital” (2023), exploring how capitalism shapes our relationships with animals, labor, and the more-than-human world.

Combining the intellectual rigor of a graduate seminar with the accessibility and conversation of a reading group, this course offers participants the rare opportunity to engage directly with an author whose work has helped shape contemporary discussions on animals, power, and social justice.

It’s not often that we get the chance to spend several weeks reading alongside the very scholar who wrote the text. Whether you’re new to animal studies or already immersed in the field, this is a remarkable opportunity to ask questions, exchange ideas, and explore one of the most important books in the field today.

Asking for some advice here. There’s truly only one place to go to dinner in our area. (Stroudsburg/East Stroudsburg) This is annoying. I’ve tried connecting with the nicest place in our area, The Willow Tree Inn. But they are unresponsive. Yet, I must persist. I am looking for strategies of engagement. All advice seriously welcomed. Their menus are a slaughterhouse nightmare. And thanks.
