Dedicated to serving people with disabilities and enhancing their quality of life.

For over 50 years, Mays Mission for the Handicapped has been providing opportunities to people with disabilities. We are a religious, charitable, nondenominational, nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting the physically and spiritually disabled and promoting awareness of the potential of individuals with disabilities. Being a 501(c)(3), we are supported through charitable contributions from our faithful and loyal supporters. Because of the generous nature of our donors, we are able to provide services like On-The-Job training, scholarships, camperships, referral services, emergency monetary assistance, awareness education, and goodwill.

💙 Why E.W. Mays Believed Ability Comes First

As a World War II veteran who lost both legs, E.W. Mays understood firsthand the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities. But he also understood something far more important—a disability does not define a person's worth, potential, or future.

He believed that everyone deserved a chance to succeed, contribute, and live a life filled with purpose.

That belief inspired him to establish Mays Mission for the Handicapped in 1969 and share the words that still guide us today:

"It's Ability, Not Disability, that counts!"

More than 50 years later, his vision lives on through every opportunity we create and every life we touch.
