📖 NEW SERMON SERIES — LIFE IN THE SPIRIT

PART 1: BELONGING TO ANOTHER
Romans 7:1–6

This past Sunday, Pastor Dennis began our new sermon series, Life in the Spirit, with an important question:

Are we trying to live the Christian life through our own strength, or are we depending on Jesus Christ?

In Romans 6, we learned that through Jesus Christ, we have been set free from the mastery of sin and now belong to God.

As we move into Romans 7, Paul takes us a step further. We discover that following Christ isn't simply about making more rules, trying harder, or promising to do better.

It's about belonging to Jesus Christ and learning to live in the power of His Spirit.

RULES CAN DIRECT US. ONLY CHRIST CAN CHANGE US.

Are you depending on your own efforts, or are you allowing Christ to transform your life?

This past Sunday, Pastor Dennis wrapped up Romans 6 by asking us a question every one of us needs to consider:

WHO ARE YOU SERVING?

Romans 6 reminds us that grace doesn't simply set us free FROM an old master—grace sets us free to belong to a new Master.

The things we continually give ourselves to can begin to exercise control over our lives. That's why the question isn't simply, “Am I free?” The deeper question is, “Who is directing my life?”

But there is good news! Through Jesus Christ, sin no longer has the right to rule those who belong to Him. We have been set free from sin to belong to God.

📖 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” — Romans 6:23 (CSB)
