🚨 SCAM ALERT – PLEASE BE AWARE! 🚨
The Hazlet Business Owners Association would like to alert our members and community about a recent scam involving individuals impersonating members of our organization.
Unfortunately, scammers are using information publicly available on social media, including Facebook posts, to gather names, business information, and connections. They then use this information to send fraudulent emails or messages that may appear to come from someone you know and trust.
⚠️ PLEASE REMEMBER:
The HBOA and its members will NEVER send unsolicited emails or messages requesting donations on behalf of any organization.
If you receive an unexpected email or message asking for money or donations, even if it appears to come from an HBOA board member or someone you recognize:
❌ DO NOT respond to the message.
❌ DO NOT click on any links or open attachments.
❌ DO NOT send money or provide personal or financial information.
✅ DO verify any suspicious communication by contacting the person directly through a phone number or contact method you already know is legitimate.
✅ DO report suspicious messages as spam or phishing.
These scams are becoming increasingly sophisticated, and the messages can look very convincing. Just because an email contains a familiar name, business, or organization does not mean it is legitimate.
We want to make sure our members and community are informed and protected.
Please share this warning to help spread awareness and prevent others from becoming victims.
