One of our local villagers is on this journey today. If you are in the area of the Grand Harbor tonight around 9:30 ish tentatively come down a welcome Roger Kress back from his trip. He isn’t a member of our Post ,(yet) but he is one of us that signed that dotted line to help toe the line for freedom and deserves our support.

If you see a flag in front of a house this week with a yellow pole and a yellow ribbon atop give a honk or wave as these Post 526 Legion members John Curwen, Dave Furlong UPDATE: Dick Welter and Joyce Woods from our post have also been selected to go on this weeks honor flight. Wh**ey went last year but he deserves the recognition as well. There was confusion that Joyce told the crew she was going with her brother and it was taken as she was going as his guardian, but she is going as a veteran!!! Stop and ask about their experience. There are 2 flags at the legion hall to represent the two other members going as guardians. Thanks to all for your support these past couple of weekends. With your help we are getting our to do lists done one bite at a time. Dean Wollaston from our Post has also been selected but does not live in town so unless you know where he lives you might not see a flag in his yard. We have submitted all our post members information to the honor flight committee to make sure these members are not forgotten as they also may have too much pride to speak up. If you see them give them a pat on the back for doing their part holding the fort to keep us free for 250 years and counting.

Thank you to all that came out to support the American Legion and Auxiliary at the Gassers grill out. We have a wonderful team that cares about our community and loves seeing you all at any of our events and just around town. Now don’t forget to take Mom out to get a steak dinner at the VFW in Benton. Those folks are always willing to help us out and we are glad to have them as neighbors. If you are looking to join the Legion or Auxiliary please let us know.

Let’s Congratulate the recipients of the New American Legion and Auxiliary Scholarships. Hannah Shireman and Reyden Wentz each received $500.00 to use for their future education endeavors. The Legion selected Reyden, an Eagle Scout who raised money and donated several life vacs to area organizations and Hannah was selected by the newly chartered Auxiliary for her mentorship and coaching to local youth along with her volunteerism with the local Red Cross blood drives. There were many deserving applicants and it was a tough decision narrowing the field of selection. In our first year of the revitalization we have grown leaps and bounds and giving back to our community is what it’s all about. Thank you all for your support!!!

Please help us welcome the new charter of the ladies Auxiliary of Temperley-Duncan Post 526 of Hazel Green WI! Great turn out and what a wonderful addition to our revitalization of the American Legion. It takes all of us and these ladies are ready to help our community a better place. So glad to be a part of this wonderful dedication.

Don’t forget meeting tomorrow night at 1830. Also mark your calendars for this weekend to hit up Gassers and enjoy a chilli dog and some other great grilling by our local Knights of Columbus helping out the cause. We appreciate it so much!!! Also we have the Auxiliary charter celebration on Monday at 5:30!!!! What a great thing to have an Auxiliary back involved with Post 526!!!!! Great job ladies for getting this going again!!!
