A community saying, “We can help with that.”

At The Caring Link, we get to see what happens when all of those seemingly small acts come together: thousands of local students have the essentials they need to walk into school more comfortable, confident, and ready to learn.

Real-life version: We help kids get stuff they need. 🫶

And honestly? We think that’s a pretty big deal.

Because sometimes a clean shirt, a pair of shoes that actually fit, a snack for a hungry belly, or a toothbrush can mean so much more than the item itself.

It can mean comfort. Confidence. Dignity. And a reminder to a child that someone cares.

No jargon. Just caring people helping local kids. 💙🔗

We are barely a month into the 2026–27 school year, and our Care Closets have already provided 5,722 essential items to local students. 💚💙

That’s 5,722 pairs of shoes, pieces of clothing, toiletries, school supplies, and other necessities placed directly into the hands of kids who needed them.

And here’s the part that makes that number even more incredible: these are 5,722 items distributed since school started—on top of the 42,000+ resources we provided before the first bell ever rang to make sure students could begin the year prepared!

Every single number represents a need met. A barrier removed. A student who could get back to class a little more comfortable, confident, and ready to learn.

5,722 items in the first month. And we’re just getting started. 💚💙

🚀⚾️ A BIG thank you to the Rocket City Trash Pandas! 💚💙

We are incredibly grateful to the Rocket City Trash Pandas for generously selecting The Caring Link to receive half of the proceeds from their Space Jersey Auction—for an incredible donation of $3,625.86! 🌙✨

But even beyond this amazing gift, we’re thankful to have an organization in our community that continually looks for ways to give back, support local nonprofits, and make a difference right here at home.

This $3,625.86 will help us continue providing local students with the essential resources they need to feel confident, cared for, and ready to learn.

🚗💬 Steering-Wheel Side Chat: Why New Matters

Recently, a school staff member shared a story with us about a student who needed some help but was hesitant to visit his school’s Care Closet.

Why?

He assumed everything inside would be used. Hand-me-downs. Things that were worn out or in bad shape.

But when he finally walked into the Care Closet and realized that everything was brand new, his entire demeanor changed.

He got excited. He started looking through the clothes. And suddenly, receiving help didn’t feel quite the way he thought it would.

That moment is exactly why The Caring Link has always prioritized providing new items in our Care Closets.

Yes, new clothing and shoes last longer. They can serve a student for months—or even be passed down to a sibling later.

But there’s something bigger happening, too.

There’s pride in pulling the tags off something that belongs to you. There’s confidence in walking back into class wearing something you chose and feel good in. There’s dignity in receiving the same kind of things your peers might pick out at a store.

Because when a child is already experiencing hardship, the last thing we want is for the help they receive to reinforce the idea that they are somehow “secondhand,” too.

They aren’t.

Our students deserve to feel valued, worthy, confident, and cared for.

And sometimes, something as simple as a tag still hanging from a shirt can say all of that without saying a word. 💚💙

We’re so grateful for community partners like Clean Bright Cleaning Services LLC who step up to host donation drives for The Caring Link. Every item collected helps us keep our Care Closets stocked and our students feeling confident, cared for, and ready to learn.

Starting tomorrow, we're teaming up with local businesses across North Alabama to collect toiletries and personal care items for The Caring Link! 🧴💙

From September 1-30, look for our collection boxes at participating businesses and drop off items like: Shampoo & conditioner 🧼 soap & body wash 🦷 toothpaste & toothbrushes, deodorant & other personal care essentials

These everyday items make a huge difference for kids in our community who might not have adequate access to these items. Personal hygiene isn't just important for health, it can do wonders for a child's self esteem too!

The Clean Bright Crew believes in giving back to the neighborhoods we serve, and this is one small way we can help our neighbors feel cared for. Every donation, big or small, helps. 💛
