Three weeks.
Three young adults.
Three new beginnings. 💛
In just the last three weeks, Fostering Roots Foundation has helped three young adults move into independence — and this photo tells part of that story.
What you see are pots and pans, bedding, towels, cleaning supplies, laundry baskets, hangers, hygiene essentials. What you don’t see is the courage it takes to unlock the door to your first apartment… alone.
For many of the young adults we serve, independence doesn’t come with a safety net. It comes with questions. Uncertainty. Quiet rooms. Responsibilities no one ever fully prepared them for.
But we don’t just drop off supplies and leave.
We sit down at the table. We listen. We plan.
With this young adult, we are brainstorming the life skills that will truly support long-term success — strengthening reading comprehension, building communication skills, learning personal finance basics like budgeting and understanding credit, and developing basic computing skills needed for employment, email communication, and navigating online systems. We are talking about workplace professionalism, time management, and building confidence in everyday interactions.
And when invited, we do something even more meaningful.
We pray.
We pray over their new home — for peace within those walls. We pray with them for guidance in their decisions. For protection as they step into adulthood. For provision — that their needs would be met and that doors would open. Because independence isn’t just about having an apartment. It’s about having support — practical, emotional, and spiritual.
Mentoring matters. Life skills matter. Consistent support matters.
No wonder statistics show so many young adults aging out of care face homelessness, unemployment, incarceration, trafficking, or early parenthood. When you’re handed keys without preparation or support, the odds feel stacked against you.
That’s why we show up.
Every move-in is more than a delivery — it’s the beginning of a relationship. A steady presence saying, “You are not alone in this.”
We are beginning to run low on supplies. If you would like to be a part of these blessings, please consider purchasing items through our Walmart gift registries or donating funds through Zeffy. Links are in the comments.
Thank you to every donor, volunteer, and supporter who makes moments like this possible. You are helping build stability, dignity, and hope.
And we’re just getting started. 💚
