Plantify and East Bay Regional Parks invite the community to a guided shoreline walk on February 14, 2026, focused on observing migrating shorebirds, seasonal changes along the Hayward shoreline, and signs of native plants emerging from winter. We’ll also explore how park staff manage and protect this landscape to support both wildlife habitat and community access in a changing climate.

This walk is part of broader community engagement efforts connected to the First Mile Shoreline Adaptation Project, helping residents better understand planned nature-based approaches to shoreline resilience and stewardship in the Hayward area.

In the event of bad weather, we will postpone to ensure a great experience.

Our holiday wreath workshop with was a huge success! In Plantify fashion, we crafted beautiful moss holiday wreaths while sharing how each material is sustainably sourced and why that matters for our ecosystems. This workshop was made special through our collaboration with , whose creative touch added to the experience.

The best part?

Seeing the joy, pride, and big smiles as everyone held up their finished wreaths 🌿✨. Thank you Ghirardelli team for bringing such great energy. We loved creating, learning, and celebrating the season with you!

Today is a chance to uplift local, community-rooted work. Your support helps us bring hands-on nature education to underserved schools and neighborhoods. Your help strengthens partnerships that expand our mission. We've activated Paradise Community Garden in Cherryland/Ashland border as a space for learning and community. The Hayward Shoreline Resilience Collaborative is uniting local agencies and community partners to protect the Hayward Shoreline and surrounding communities from sea level rise. Through three innovative projects that harness nature-based solutions, like horizontal ("living") levees, we're building a unified model for climate adaptation that enhances resilience and restores natural ecosystems while connecting people to the Bay.

Rising seas and stronger storms are already reshaping our shorelines, it's time to act.

Join us at this free, interactive workshop to learn about the latest on sea level rise around the Hayward Shoreline. Connect with neighbors and local leaders, and explore nature-based solutions that can protect both people and havitsta. We want you to join us on Nov 18th at Cherryland Community Center to share your perspective and priorities for adaptation.

Your voice matters!

🌿 Happy California Biodiversity Day!

California is one of the most biodiverse places in the U.S. 🌎 Native plants shape entire ecosystems β€” feeding insects, birds, and wildlife β€” while also supporting human survival through medicine, agriculture, and a healthy environment.

When we care for native plants, we care for all of life around us. πŸŒΈπŸπŸ¦‹

We’re glad to be part of the conversations around building a resilient, nature-based coastline. We look forward to sharing more soon about how we’ll be engaging with communities in the Hayward area and unincorporated Alameda County!

Last week, we hosted a dream team of design consultants, community-based organizations, engineers, and planners to kickoff community engagement efforts for a suite of nature-based sea level rise adaptation projects along the Hayward shoreline. Thank you to Greenbelt Alliance for leading thoughtful discussion, and thank you to all of our project partners that attended the event! Thank you to everyone who joined us for Compost Crawl at Paradise Community Garden! 🌱

We had a great time demonstrating composting methods and connecting with our community about ways to reduce waste and build healthy soil.

Special thanks to our collaborator presenters β€” and (featuring ) β€” for sharing their knowledge and making this event possible, and to all the neighbors who came out to learn and grow with us.

This event was a project of the ACRCD Urban Farm Conservation Mini-Grant program, made possible through generous donations from community members throughout Alameda County and based upon work supported by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, under agreement number FSA24GRA0011602.
