More Than a Project: Building Together

What can we build when generations learn side-by-side? Join us for Building Together on Saturday, November 7, from 9 a.m.–noon in Hinton’s Educational Tool Barn. Children ages 6+ and the adults who accompany them will create a project to take home while learning practical skills that help make our homes safer and healthier. It’s a morning designed to build skills, create connections, and introduce families to some of the ways Hinton serves our neighbors throughout the year.

Registration is required by Friday, October 23, and space is limited.

Honored to Serve. Grateful to Be Recognized.

Hinton Rural Life Center is honored to have been recognized by the Town of Murphy and Mayor Tim Radford for our contributions to the community!

For 65 years, Hinton has remained committed to strengthening communities, serving our neighbors, and making a meaningful difference throughout Southern Appalachia. This recognition is a wonderful reminder of the impact that can be made when people come together with a shared purpose of helping others.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Mayor Tim Radford and the Town of Murphy for this special recognition, as well as to the countless volunteers, donors, community partners, and supporters who make our mission possible. Every home repaired, every family supported, and every life touched reflects the compassion and generosity of those who stand alongside us.

As we celebrate 65 years of faith and service, we are reminded that our greatest accomplishments are not measured by recognition, but by the lives we have the privilege of impacting.

Here's to continuing to serve, strengthen, and uplift our communities for generations to come!

Faith Is a Journey. Let's Grow Together!

Confirmation is more than a milestone in the church. It's an opportunity for young people to ask meaningful questions, strengthen their relationship with God, and discover what it means to live out their faith.

At Hinton Rural Life Center, our Theotokos Confirmation Retreats create space for reflection, conversation, and connection as confirmands explore their faith alongside others on the same journey.

Through intentional experiences and meaningful discussions, participants are encouraged to discover their place within the church and the greater Christian community.

Give your confirmands an experience that reaches beyond the classroom and helps lay the foundation for a lifelong journey of faith.

Your Summer Can Make a Difference!

What if one week could change the way your youth group sees the world?

At Hinton Rural Life Center, Summer Missions is about so much more than completing a project. It's about building relationships, serving alongside our Appalachian neighbors, and discovering how faith comes alive through action.

Through hands-on service opportunities, meaningful fellowship, and intentional reflection, participants experience the power of working together to make homes safer and communities stronger.

And while the work makes a lasting difference for the neighbors we serve, the experience often leaves just as meaningful an impact on those who come to serve.

💥 **BOOM: Wow! What a week!** 💥

Our BOOM Missions Week may be over, but the impact, memories, and relationships will last long beyond the week!

🔨 24 participants.
Lots of hard work.
Plenty of laughter.
A little rest and renewal. (Emphasis on the word *little* 😂)

We were thrilled to welcome individual volunteers and participants from Sharp Memorial UMC (Young Harris, GA), Newnan FUMC (Newnan, GA), and Acworth UMC (Acworth, GA) for a week of serving, learning, connecting, and experiencing rural Appalachia together!

And a special shoutout to our amazing local volunteers who jumped in to lend a hand on projects throughout the week! We love seeing visiting mission teams and community volunteers working side by side, sharing skills, building relationships, and making a difference together! ❤️

And BOY, did they get things done! 💪

🏡 Painting, yardwork, pressure washing, and staining

🔨 Step repairs, decking, and construction of an accessibility ramp

🌱 Helping with Hinton's Swing Garden

❤️ Supporting local thrift stores and Clay County Communities for Students

But BOOM is about more than checking projects off a list. It's about building relationships, broadening perspectives, learning from our neighbors, and discovering how service can transform us, too.

Along the way, we enjoyed Appalachian Culture Night, perspective-building programming, fellowship, laughter, and even a few moments to enjoy the view!
