The Abingdon Ruritan Club was proud to have members volunteer at Page Middle School to help with the Reality Store, an event presented by the Virginia Cooperative Extension.

The Reality Store gives students a hands-on opportunity to learn about budgeting, career choices, financial responsibility, and real-life decision-making. We are always grateful for opportunities to support local students and be part of programs that help prepare them for the future.

Community service in action, one lesson at a time!

🏌️‍♂️ Abingdon Ruritan Club showed up and showed out!

Congratulations to our very own Fearsome Foursome for representing the Club so well at the Chesapeake District Golf Tournament!

Pictured from left: Chris Lamb, Allen Scales, Rick Taylor, and A.J. Brown — who placed 1st in the Second Flight! 🎉

And because apparently winning wasn’t enough, A.J. Brown won Longest Drive and Allen Scales won Longest Putt. Talk about bringing the heat to the green! ⛳🔥

Way to go, gentlemen — Abingdon Ruritan is proud of you!

Looking for something real to be part of? This is it.
The Abingdon Ruritan Club is more than meetings, festivals, and volunteer hours. It is a group of people who show up, for each other, for our neighbors, and for this community.
Over the years, our club has poured countless volunteer hours and Significant funds right back into local needs, scholarships, community projects, families, schools, first responders, and causes that make Gloucester and the surrounding area stronger. Every event, every fundraiser, every long day of hard work has a purpose: serving our community and making a real difference.
And here’s the thing community service is not just for “later in life” retirees. We need younger people, fresh ideas, new energy, and the next generation of do-gooders to step in and be part of something bigger than themselves.
Being involved in this club means meeting good people, making meaningful connections, building friendships, having a positive influence, and remembering that there are still a whole lot of kind, hardworking, generous people in this world. Honestly, it can restore your faith in humanity a little... and who couldn’t use that?
If you are under 30, over 30, new to the area, born and raised here, looking for purpose, connection, community, or just a way to do some good while having fun we would love to have you.
Come be part of something that matters. Come be part of Abingdon Ruritan. Consider this your official invitation!

On Sunday, May 24, 2026, Gloucester American Legion Post 75 hosted a beautiful and meaningful Memorial Day Ceremony honoring the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

Abingdon Ruritan Club was honored to attend and participate in this special remembrance. Pictured in the front row are Danny Privott, Mary Lou Privott, Liz Simmons, who carried the Club wreath, and Selena Collins. Pictured in the second row are Dick Beasley, Eva Tillage, Tony Dziadul, and Don Sandridge.

We extend our sincere thanks to Gloucester American Legion Post 75 for hosting such a respectful and heartfelt ceremony, and we pause in gratitude for all fallen heroes whose courage and sacrifice will never be forgotten.
