We are still fundraising for Charli's surgery! She is going to Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University this Tuesday, 10/20 to have her liver shunt repaired! Please Donate and Share to help cover costs; almost every cat in our care costs between $500-2000 for immediate veterinary care prior to adoption. We are an all volunteer-run rescue, no salaries. Your donations go directly towards the cats in our care!

Charli's surgery is estimated at around $7,000 so we still have a long way to go to cover that final balance!

Charli is a young kitten fighting for her life after arriving at Old Acquaintance Rescue with a congenital defect to her liver called a portosystemic shunt.…

CHARLI UPDATE!!!

Charli had her CT scan at the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University on Wednesday. The scan confirmed the size and location of her liver shunt and she IS A CANDIDATE FOR SURGERY!

We now need YOUR HELP to raise the funds to cover these costs as time is of the essence. Charli is scheduled for surgery in two weeks, so we only have a short amount of time to fundraise and cover the costs of the CT scan AND the surgery which is estimated to be around $6,000-$7,000.

WITHOUT YOUR SUPPORT, WE CAN NOT CONTINUE TO HELP SAVE DESERVING CATS LIKE CHARLI!

Not many rescues or shelters take in cats like Charli; they are expensive to treat but we believe these cats still deserve a chance to live a high quality life rather than be slated as a hospice case when there is treatment available.

Please Donate, Like and SHARE this post far and wide!

Charli the kitten is going in to Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University tomorrow for her CT angio to locate the portosystemic liver shunt in her liver. We are still asking you for help with covering this sweet girl's veterinary bills! They are piling up quickly. Tomorrow's visit is estimated to be $3,000 and we still need to raise money for the surgery she is going to need to repair her liver shunt. Please Like, Share, Comment and DONATE every dollar helps!

Charli the kitten recently visited Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University and we confirmed with advanced blood tests that she most likely has an extra hepatic liver shunt. Charli is going to need a CT angiogram to image the shunt and surgery to correct it. This is going to be costly for us being a specialized, small rescue. Even with rescue discounts, her imaging and surgery will be in the thousands.

Charli is a spirited extrovert who doesn’t know the word stranger and deserves a chance at a normal healthy life. Please donate towards her care and growing veterinary bills!

Kittens are the animals least likely to leave a shelter alive. Not because their medicine is impossible — but because almost no one was taught it. 🐾💙

Stacy sits down with Jordyn Purpura, a final-year veterinary student and twelve-year neonatal foster parent, to talk about one of the most consequential gaps in animal welfare: almost nothing in veterinary education begins before eight weeks of age.

Jordyn has experienced this gap from every angle — as a foster parent hearing "there isn't much we can do," as a shelter worker placing bottle babies, and as the person sometimes present for their euthanasia when no foster could be found. For a long time, there was a defensible reason to accept this gap: it didn't matter what a vet was willing to prescribe if there was nobody to take that kitten home and feed it every two hours.

But that excuse, he argues, has quietly expired. Foster networks have grown. Nurseries have opened. Funding has followed. What hasn't caught up is the reflex — too small for blood work, too small for imaging, too small for a medication that was never labeled for a body this size.

That reflex has a body count. And Jordyn is doing something about it. 💙

🚨 HERO FOSTER OR ADOPTER NEEDED!!! 🚨

Hannah Montana is a healthy 10 year old girl who needs a quieter, low traffic foster or adoptive home. Hannah has also told us that she prefers humans that identify as male. If you’re a guy that loves cats and is looking to bond with a very special shy girl that will only ever choose you, Hannah is it!

You will forever have bragging rights that your cat only loves you and no one else. We know how special that feeling is when a cat chooses you as their human and refuses to acknowledge anyone else’s existence 😆🐾

Please email [email protected] for more details about Hannah!

Bring Hannah Montana home! Hannah Montana is a senior large female Domestic Short Hair in Groveland, MA waiting for adoption.
