The Gathering of the Sisters is a special mini-retreat series that introduces our community to unique and meaningful wellness experiences. This past weekend, we gathered at FCA’s THRIVE Nassau in collaboration with the Hispanic Counseling Center. During this gathering, we expanded our understanding of Nutrition & Health through a fun round of Nutrition Bingo, followed by Pressed Flower Art and Jewelry Making! 🌸

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the morning so special. We’re grateful for the opportunity to learn, create, connect, and grow together!

Friday night at East End THRIVE, our community gathered for our monthly Gong Therapy Session. An evening of sound, breath and stillness offers a chance to slow down, settle the nervous system and reconnect. Practices like this can be a meaningful part of recovery, creating space for regulation, reflection and connection.

Thank you to our facilitator and to everyone who joined us.

These monthly offerings sit alongside the core of what we do at THRIVE: men’s and women’s groups, 12-step meetings, peer recovery coaching and ongoing community support. Join us💜

This week, THRIVE Nassau welcomed FCA's Aging Safely Prevention Coalition (ASPC) to our community center. ASPC is a group of organizations and leaders across twelve sectors of the community that is committed to addressing binge drinking and alcohol misuse among the growing older adult population (45+) throughout Nassau and Suffolk County. We’re grateful to connect with partners who are committed to promoting health, safety, and well-being across our communities. If you’d like to learn more about ASPC or get involved in this important work, please call 516-788-1788.

This weekend, Family & Children’s Association was honored to co-sponsor Steps for Hope and Healing, a meaningful collaboration with Drug Free Long Island - DFLI Coalition , Town of Babylon - Government , and the .of.oyster.bay

Members of FCA’s THRIVE Recovery Centers came together with our community to share the gifts we experience through recovery, offer hope, and shine a light on the truth that healing is possible and recovery is available.

We were especially grateful to take part in the dedication of a beautiful new commemorative memorial at Tanner Park, a place where those impacted by the loss of a loved one to addiction can come to remember, find peace, and begin to heal.

To our THRIVE community: The health and safety of our participants, facilitators, volunteers and staff is important to us. Due to the unfortunate circumstance of the coronavirus outbreak, we are announcing preventative health measures to protect all who enter our Centers in both Hauppauge and Westbury.

At this time we will be cancelling special events that draw large crowds of 50 or more, per CDC recommendations. As of today the events that will be cancelled include: Come meet OASAS (scheduled for March 12th in Suffolk); Keeping it Green Dance (scheduled for March 14th in Nassau); and Open House Party (scheduled for March 27th in Nassau).

Groups will continue as scheduled, however, we reserve the right to limit group size to ensure safety precautions for all participants and facilitators; and to ensure we are providing all possible areas for support we will be setting up virtual methods for communication and continue to offer free one on one recovery coach sessions Should we need to make any changes to our groups we will be sure to communicate with facilitators and participants. THRIVE is committed to making every effort to not interrupt important recovery services. As we continue to monitor the coronavirus and communications from State, Federal and County organizations, we will continue to keep the THRIVE community up to date. As a reminder, the best way to protect yourself and others is to avoid being exposed to this virus. The CDC recommends the following:

• Stay home when you are sick.
• Stay home if you have traveled in the last 14 days, or if you have been in contact with someone who has traveled in the last 14 days.
• Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 30 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol, if soap and water are not available.
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
• Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
• Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces
