Allen M. Hart grew up in Washington Heights, walking through the woods down to the Hudson River, collecting Lenape arrowheads along the way. That curiosity and wonder never left him. 🌿

🎉 Hart showed his work at Upstream Gallery and Blue Door Gallery, and was beloved by everyone who crossed his path. He worked on his art every single day until the end of his life. See more of Allen’s work on his website: allenmhart.com

You may also order a copy of his book, Allen M. Hart: A Painter’s Life and Work, at www.magcloud.com/browse/issue/1775490

🖼️ His paintings are on view now through June 2nd at Hastings Village Hall Gallery; oil paintings, pen and ink, and mixed media that glow with jewel-like intensity.

Come meet the work of a man who gave everything to his art and his community.

In her Yonkers apartment, Millie Hart, who is 99 years old, keeps her late husband Allen’s legacy alive by displaying and maintaining his vast body of artwork. Twelve years after the prolific painter’s passing, Millie and her two sons are offering the community a glimpse into his expressionist canvases through an exhibit at Hastings’ Village Hall Gallery, which opened April 10 and continues through June 2.

Come celebrate the art and life of Allen M. Hart this Sunday!

🎨 His paintings and works on paper pull you into a world where myth, memory, and the absurd collide; expressionistic landscapes, vivid animal portraits, and self-portraits glazed with jewel-like intensity. Bold, prolific, and endlessly curious, Hart worked on his art every day until the end of his life.

🌊 Step into Neil Lavey ’s River Dreamer at the Hastings Village Hall Gallery (and out of the cold) —and it’s a full-range look at an artist who’s not afraid to experiment.

👉 One of the standout parts of this new work is a set of new experimental 🗿 sculptural works developed through 3D printing at , in White Plains. Exploring form, volume and surface through contemporary process 👨‍🎨 while staying grounded in classical sculptural and bronze casting thinking.

Thank you Rivertowns Dispatch for sharing Neil Lavey's story!

“My style is reminiscent of artists like Grant Wood and Thomas Hart Benton, from the 1930s,” he said. “I playfully call it early American testosterone. There’s a fair amount of big, bulky men in my work. That’s no accident.”

🧵 Don’t miss this extraordinary blend of color : forms now on view at the Hastings Village Hall Gallery.

✨🎨 The pieces in this exhibition were created over the past year, a year that was challenging for the artist,Kit Shapiro Demirdelen . The act of making became a safe space, a way to process political turmoil, global instability and personal transition. The result is work that holds both vulnerability and strength, grounded in repetition, labor, and the meditative nature of craft.

On view through Jan 31, 2026 — take time to experience this thoughtful, moving exhibition.
