🎉 BIG NEWS!! Our new barn arrived yesterday!🎉
The Habitat Education Property welcomed its brand‑new 12×20 storage barn, and we can’t stop smiling about it!

This structure was built by the talented students of the Clare‑Gladwin CTE Building Trades Program, and we’re grateful for their hard work and craftsmanship. It’s always a pleasure partnering with CTE and supporting hands‑on learning that benefits both students and our community.

This project was made possible through the generous support of the Rollin M. Gerstacker Foundation and the Dow Company Foundation in Midland. Their investment strengthens our capacity for conservation education and demonstration projects, and improvements across the Habitat Education Property & Trails.

Be sure to visit the property this summer, walk the trails, and admire the work of our local teens. 🌿🛠️💚 More to come on open dates and times....https://www.clarecd.org/habitat-education-property.html

We are seeing evidence of and hearing reports of large number of tent caterpillars present throughout Clare County. These are often confused with the spongy moth caterpillars, but they are a separate species that are not within the purview of the the Spongy Moth Suppression Program. While the caterpillars look very similar, their nests do not. Below are some helpful links and visual aids in determining which species may be present on your property. Active Spongy Moth infestations can be reported to our office at (989) 539-6401, or by email @ [email protected].
Additional information regarding spongy moth and the Suppression Program can be found on our website at https://www.clarecd.org/gmidentification.html
Additional information regarding the differences in these caterpillar species can be found on the MSU Extension page at https://www.canr.msu.edu/.../comparison_of_the_eastern...
