Our Meet Our Board of Directors series continues! At Garden of Hope Central Texas, our mission is made possible by incredible individuals who generously give their time, talents, and hearts to the children and families we serve.

Next up, meet Ayeisha Garza, our Treasurer!

Ayeisha goes above and beyond to bring normalcy to the lives of our kids. Every year, she graciously hosts all of our holiday parties for our foster children and families, giving them the chance to celebrate, make memories, and simply enjoy being kids.

And she doesn’t stop there! Ayeisha and her family also keep our grounds and playground in tip-top shape, so our kids always have a safe, beautiful place to play and grow.

Ayeisha, thank you for the love and care you pour into Garden of Hope. You make a difference for our kids every single day!

Happy Halloween week from all of us at Garden of Hope! 🎃 To everyone who sponsored a child this October and helped cover costumes, candy, and festive fun: thank you. You made this month special for our kids.

Now save the date. Our Annual Telethon, A Slice of Hope, is Friday, November 6, from 6 to 8:30 PM. This year our goal is $100,000. Every dollar goes toward caring for children in foster care across Central Texas, through our shelter, residential programs, and the foster families we support.

MEET THE HEARTS BEHIND THE HOPE!

We're excited to kick off our Meet Our Board of Directors series, where we'll introduce you to the dedicated people helping us build hope throughout Central Texas!

🌟 First up, meet Bobby Whitson — At-Large Board Member!

Bobby is a lifelong Bell County resident with a passion for community service. With a background in financial leadership, small business, and numerous community organizations, Bobby brings years of experience and a heart for serving others to Garden of Hope.

But what makes Bobby and his family especially special to us is how they continually SHOW UP! ❤️

From donating auction items and volunteering at our events to spending Christmas morning in the kitchen preparing a pancake breakfast for the children we serve, the Whitson family puts their love for this community into action.

Bobby, thank you for being part of the Garden of Hope family and for helping us make a difference, one child and one family at a time! 💙

Hope in Action: small actions, lasting impact. 💙

You don't have to foster to change things for a child in care. We're building our volunteer program around one idea: reliable, ongoing support beats one-time help. Here are three ways to be part of it.

Time: join our Resource Center team, help at events, build beds with us at BedBuild, offer respite, or host a parents' night out.
Collect: send recurring items, claim part of our monthly birthday party, or sponsor a child.
Donate: set up a recurring gift for something specific, or give to our general fund.

Coming up: Festival of Trees volunteers are needed Dec. 2–4 for decorating, organizing, and building furniture. Multiple time slots are open, and you can sign up through the event on our page.

TODAY MARKS A SPECIAL DAY FOR GARDEN OF HOPE!

Earlier this year, Garden of Hope of Central Texas launched a very special Bed Build Project, with Mr. Bill leading the way alongside Mr. Jim.

Today, we are celebrating an incredible milestone — 150 BEDS BUILT AND PROVIDED TO CHILDREN ACROSS REGION 7!

These beds are going to children in foster care, children at risk of being removed from their homes, and children who simply need a safe, comfortable place to sleep.

Think about that for a moment. 150 children now have a bed to call their own!

What may seem like a simple bed to some represents comfort, dignity, security, and hope to a child who needs it.

I cannot thank Mr. Bill and Mr. Jim enough for their dedication, servant hearts, and commitment to making a difference, one bed at a time.

And we're not stopping at 150!

16,251. That's how many Texas children were in the state's care at the end of August 2025, according to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.

Behind that number are kids right here in Central Texas who need a safe home, a steady adult, and someone in their corner. That is what our foster families do every day.

Thinking about fostering? You need to be at least 21, pass a background check, drug screening, and home study, and complete pre-service training. We provide all of that training in-house at no cost to you, and our families have ongoing support through our Resource Training Center, respite care, and monthly family events.
