šæ Troops 238 & 271 Join Forces for Conservation! šæ
This weekend, Scouts from Troop 238 and Troop 271 - Harker Heights, TX worked together at Miller Springs Park in Belton, TX, to make a real impact. The Scouts focused on removing Ligustrum, an invasive species that threatens the parkās ecosystem.
The project was more than just physical work. Our Scouts also learned about erosion, watersheds, and the parkās history, including how the land was affected by dam overflow in the ā90s. šš§
This service project is part of the Messenger of Peace program, an initiative that encourages Scouts to take action in their communities to promote peace, sustainability, and environmental stewardship.
The project falls under the Civic Engagement learning path, which focuses on taking action to address issues that affect our communities. By working to improve the health of Miller Springs Park, our Scouts are contributing to a peaceful and sustainable environment. š
This effort wouldnāt have been possible without the leadership and assistance from Belton Parks and Recreation, particularly Recreation Superintendent and Eagle Scout Adam Trujillo. Their guidance and support were invaluable in making this project a success. šš³
This effort wasnāt only about cleaning up; it was about giving back, preserving nature, and learning how to protect the environment for future generations. Our Scouts are living out the values of the Messenger of Peace Award, which recognizes those who work to create positive change in the world.
We are so proud of our Scouts for their hard work and commitment to making a positive difference! āØ
