Thanks in part to Smith Mountain Lake Cleanup Days, more than 24 tons of debris was collected from in and around SML during lake cleanup days in May. In all, more than 450 people participated in lake cleanup days, covering more than 49 miles! https://ow.ly/Rz4a50Z79Kn

At yesterday’s meeting, we had the opportunity to hear from one of our newest members, Joey Donovant with SML Gives Inc.!

SML Gives Inc. is dedicated to fighting hunger and poverty throughout the Smith Mountain Lake region by connecting neighbors, businesses, and community partners to provide food access and support for those in need. Their programs include mobile food delivery, pantry support, and future empowerment initiatives designed to help families build brighter futures.

Last Thursday’s meeting was a great one!

A big thank you to Janet Farmer for joining us and sharing important information on dock electrical hazards—such a valuable and timely topic for our community. ⚡️

We were also honored to recognize four Paul Harris Fellows who have leveled up—congratulations to Gary Hess, Susan Phillips, Cindy DeMarco, and Kevin Bugg! 👏

Please help us give a warm welcome to our newest member, Billy Howland, who has transferred from his previous club in North Carolina. We’re excited to have you!

And what a moment for our 50/50 raffle—congratulations to Jeff Schott for taking home the win! 🎉 For those who may not know, our weekly raffle builds each meeting, and the winner must draw the Queen of Hearts to claim 50% of the pot… and this time, it came down to the VERY LAST card in the deck!

Thank you to everyone who came out to support our Rotary Texas Hold ’Em Poker Scholarship Tournament! Congratulations to our 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners 👏

A huge thank you to Hot Shots for hosting and serving up amazing food, to Jim Hogle and Phil Green for putting on a fantastic event, and to our Rotarians and Skylar who helped everything run smoothly. Special thanks to Jeff Carter and Jim Cullen for running the games, and to Don Bull and Richard Millar for all your support. We’re also so grateful to our incredible sponsors who provided the food and prizes — and to every single player who showed up to play for a great cause!
