Hardwick Community Fair

Hardwick Community Fair A 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The Oldest Agricultural Fair in the United States! August 14 and 15, 2026 check out the program. Thank you!

President's message:
The Hardwick Fair is a place where old-timers and newcomers gather to renew old friendships and acquaintances; many traveling great distances. It is a traditional Colonial-style country fair with an agricultural theme . . . The Common has a variety of activities; many free and others inexpensive, bringing together a blend of old and new. It's a family event where children can

enjoy themselves and so can their parents, without emptying their pockets. Check out the Kids Only section for details and a schedule of events, like the Frog Jumping Competition. Other buildings around the Common display art, photography, and crafts created by local folks. The Old Town Hall has displays of baked goods, flowers, and vegetables, all competing for the illusive Blue Ribbon. The Fair culminates in an auction of all perishable exhibits, where even "Aunt Mable's Blue Ribbon-winning blueberry cake" goes to the highest bidder. — Fay Butler, President

Fair Set Up starts this Sunday , August 9th at 10 am!

The big tents are going to be delivered/set up sometime this weekend. Given the weather, I'm calling for set up help starting Sunday at 10 am.

We need help with:

Wiring - we have to set up the extension cords to power up booths, etc and hang lights throughout the common.
Moving benches from the 2nd floor of the Townhouse to the highway barn (they are not terribly heavy, just awkward and we can't lift them from the armrests)
Moving plastic tables from the Paige building to upstairs into the Townhouse.
Rolling our *new* cafeteria tables from the Highway barn to under the eating tent..
Bringing glassware for flower displays from the Paige building to the Townhouse
Bringing the pop up tents from the Paige Building to the common
Setting up green benches (from Paige Building) to areas around the common
Setting out trash and recycling barrels (from Paige Building) to around the common
Cleaning tables once they are in the townhouse
Pounding in stakes for the Scarecrow contest

There may be some other tasks as well, but they will depend on the weather forecast.

It looks like a lot, but if we have a dozen volunteers or so, we can get it all done in short order. Many hands do make light work!

So please come to the common Sunday around 10 am. Shop at the Farmers market, get a coffee at Mimi's and help get the Fair set up.

If you can't make it Sunday, and want to help, there will be plenty to do throughout next week. Just email or text me ([email protected], 617-834-0048) or email Kim Villeaux, our volunteer coordinator ([email protected]).

Thank you!!!
Lisa
