Agape Community Internships long and short term are available. Interested in climate change? Ecology? The environment? Living green? Agape is open to all!

The Agape Community is a residential community, ecumenical and interfaith in outreach and practice, with a focus on sustainable living, prayer, meditation, education in nonviolence co-founded in 1982. A spiritually based/residential comm

unity, Agape is interfaith in outreach and perspective, founded as lay Catholic Christian community. Ecologically based, Agape has a strawbale house, compost toilet, solar energy and hot water, organic garden, wood heat, and a grease car which runs on vegetable oil. Since 1982, college students, both grads and undergrads, and post grads have journeyed to Agape for internships, workshops, retreats,and to volunteer. We welcome people from all walks of life and age groups, emphasizing the current need for live-in residents who will commit to a long-term covenant leading to community membership. Agape needs you to continue our environmental lifestyle and to spread the word that nonviolence is green!!!

As a New York Times columnist, Ross Douthat's commentary on the Church was defined by a central antagonist: Pope Francis.

Massimo Faggioli's new column considers the career of Douthat, who recently departed the Times to join 60 Minutes at Bari Weiss's revamped CBS news.

"The problem was not Douthat’s lack of deference towards Pope Francis; the age of deference is over," Faggioli writes. "The problem was his glib dismissal of the content of Francis’s teaching and lack of engagement with the sources." He is a lay Catholic intellectual who does not seem to have had the time or patience to engage with theology or Church history prior to 1800 or outside of the West.

Anything he does can be undone. He can rename things, slap his name on buildings, rewrite signs, and pretend his version of reality is permanent.

It isn’t.

Presidents are temporary. Laws can change, names can be restored, executive actions can be reversed, and the country will still be here long after he’s gone.

Create connections with local land stewards, intentional communities, organizers, artists, educators, healers, builders, funders, and families so that we can connect across projects, share resources, and build the relationships that make regional resilience possible.

We begin by strengthening and expanding the relationships among intentional communities and land-based projects so that we are able to expand into collaboration with bioregional organizations and regenerative initiatives.

On our final day together, Sunday September 13th, we conclude with a full day of music, art, and celebration that honors the culture, connections, and collective future that we’re building together.

Whether you’re already rooted in a community, involved with a land project, or you’re looking for your place in this growing movement, all are welcome with open arms.
