We remember and honor Lt. Brad Clark.

Today, we mark the anniversary of the line-of-duty death of Lieutenant Brad Clark, who was tragically struck and killed while working on Interstate 295 during Hurricane Michael in 2018.

Brad’s sacrifice helped lead to stronger penalties under the state’s Move Over Law. His wife, Melanie, continues to honor his memory by sharing his story and educating the public about the importance of moving over and slowing down for emergency workers.

We remember Brad, honor his service, and stand with his family and all who loved him. Let his story remind us that moving over and slowing down can save lives.

On Saturday 9-26-26, we held the Fall Basic Emergency Preparedness Academy skills day.
Students reviewed material that they learned online and in the classroom and then practiced the skills - Fire suppression, utilities, search and rescue, and cribbing. Medical had been reviewed at an earlier class.
The day culminated in a full disaster scenario at "Bob's Garage" in Hanover where a tornado had come through. The students put all the skills that they learned into practice. Everyone worked together and made a very cohesive team!

Special thank yous to our volunteer victims - young Matt Gordon, Nan Frascogna (CERT), and Kari Dottellis (CERT) for being in the dark, carried, and bandaged.

Fall 2026 basic academy
Do you know what DCAP-BTLS stands for? Hint... It's used during head to toe assessments.
Tonight was an in-person skills practice for triage, med ops, and carries.
Hanover County Fire-EMS led the class reviewing material and demonstrating skills. Then the students practiced on dummies and each other.
