OUR VISION & OUR MISSION
OUR VISION is to finally be able to bring a Pop Warner Football and Cheer organization to fruition out of the Town of Hannibal. We think this could be a huge step in the right direction for our Hannibal football and cheer programs, as well as our community. This would bring along a very affordable opportunity for the younger athletes in the area who have an interest in the sport the ability to represent their hometown at the Pop Warner level. To where beforehand they would have to travel elsewhere to play, such as Oswego or Fulton. We are currently planning on doing a multitude of fundraisers (Water Bottles, Candy Bars, Raffle Tickets, Bottle & Cans Drives, ect.) and hopefully pairing with the local shops and businesses in town to help us secure the funding we need to get the program jump started.
OUR MISSION is to assist in the development of skills both on and off the field for young athletes aged between 5 & 12. Our development on the field would first and foremost start with teaching the basic fundamentals of football and cheer to all of our athletes. Followed by other very important areas of teaching such as skills training (tackling, catching, passing, blocking, & kicking), learning how to read, understand, and memorize a playbook, and also preaching the importance of teamwork on the field. Off the field, we want to make sure each and every athlete understands how important the student part of being a student-athlete truly is. Per Pop Warner regulations, all athletes must maintain a 2.0/70% in classes to be eligible to participate and play. And we will be strong enforcers of this rule like wise. But, if a student is struggling we do plan on trying to set up some sort of tutoring program for our athletes, possibly pairing with the local high schoolers to do so. This gives them the opportunity to not only improve on the field, but in the classroom as well while being a part of the Hannibal Pop Warner Family. All of our members have ties into the Hannibal community at some level, whether it's as a student, a teacher, a local board member, or something else. And each and every one of us thinks this could be a truly great thing for this community, especially at the youth level.
YEAR 1
While our main goal is to ultimately be able to offer all age groups (Tiny Mite, 8U, 9U, 10U, 11U, 12U) the ability to play, we understand it may not all happen right away. Our initial plan is to offer 12U, 10U, and Cheer as well, depending on the level of interest and support throughout the community in year 1. We are planning on making it affordable for the local families as well. With discounts for returning players after our 1st year. Like previously said we'll be doing quite a few fundraisers to get things rolling as well. We're hoping to also be able to secure donations, sponsors, and grants to help us cover equipment as that is the BIGGEST need we will have as a first year organization, aside from gaining interest throughout the community. Another great thing we'd like to offer year 1 is the opportunity for Varsity Football Players to volunteer and help out our team and Tutoring opportunities for some Hannibal High School students as well. Like previously stated, our mission is to not only improve on the field but in the books too, and we are going to cement that as the strong foundation of our organization year 1!
