Thank You Team Gage Beast Endurance Race Participants, Volunteers, and Sponsors…Thanks hardly seems enough…
Yesterday’s Team Gage Beast Endurance Race at the Hannibal Regional Hospital Healthy Way Trail was nothing short of inspiring.
Despite facing four hours of intense heat, thick humidity, and challenging conditions, every participant showed incredible grit, determination, and heart. Each runner carried more than miles on their legs—they carried the name of a child from Mississippi Valley State School on their bib, honoring our mission and motto: “Running for Those Who Can’t.”
Whether you walked, jogged, or ran, you made a difference. Many participants achieved personal milestones, including completing their first half marathon, while others pushed themselves close to the full marathon distance. Every lap, every mile, and every step represented courage and commitment.
We were especially inspired by our youngest participants, just 11 and 12 years old, who completed an impressive half marathon and 17 miles. We also witnessed a powerful tribute from one of our top male participants, who chose to stop at 22 miles to honor Gage’s age when he passed away. He crossed under the finisher’s arch proudly holding up his Gage T-shirt, reminding us all of the purpose behind this event.
Another remarkable example of perseverance came from one of our top female finishers, who completed 19 miles after recently hiking through the Yellowstone mountains while carrying her daughter who has Down Syndrome, across the challenging terrain. Her strength, compassion, and determination embody the spirit of this race.
A heartfelt thank you goes to our incredible friends and volunteers who gave their time and energy before, during, and after the event. Your dedication ensured everything ran smoothly and safely, and we could not have done it without you.
We are also deeply grateful to our sponsors whose generous support made this event possible. Your contributions helped create a meaningful and successful day that will have a lasting impact on the children and families we serve. Huge thanks to Rebel Pig Smokehouse and Grill and B Creative Nutrition for the meal afterwards… Participants were loading their plates, going back for seconds and express expressing their gratitude for the delicious food.
Most importantly, thank you to every participant who showed up, endured the conditions, and ran with purpose. Yesterday was about much more than miles—it was about honoring children, building community, and proving that when we come together for a cause greater than ourselves, extraordinary things can happen.
Thank you for helping us continue to run for those who can’t.
