Buying a home in partnership with Kauai Habitat for Humanity is a unique opportunity where homebuyers can learn to be successful homeowners by training them to pay for their homes, maintain their homes and connect with their community. Partner homebuyers are required to take homebuyer education classes, work with their neighbors and community volunteers, and commit to approximately 30 productive hours of work per week as their “sweat equity” in lieu of down payment. Habitat homes are modest, high quality, and energy efficient. Home styles may vary in each of our neighborhoods, and the size of the home is generally determined by household size. Mortgage payments along with grants, private contributions, volunteer labor, and sweat equity help Kaua`i Habitat keep costs low and enable us to build truly affordable housing.

Kaua`i Habitat for Humanity also operates ReStore®, which sells new and used discounted building and construction materials, home improvement items, and gently used furniture, appliances, and household goods, to raise money for the affiliate. Proceeds from ReStore® support Kaua`i Habitat for Humanity’s mission to build decent, affordable housing.
