CHILD’S GARDEN OF LEARNING ☀️ Parents & caregivers joined us to celebrate their children’s garden with special guest Mrs. Stephanie, a nature-based early educator, earlier this summer at Rainbow Arc Academy in Goose Creek 🌿 🥬 🥒

We all engaged in child-led gardening activities, explored the children’s garden showcase, enjoyed food & drinks, and took home garden-based learning kits.

Parents & caregivers worked with their children on a terracotta pot and planting seeds, even as they learned how to use gardening as a way to enhance their children’s social-emotional development and literacy, math, & science learning.

HEALTH FAIR ☼ We were also on hand at the Health & Wellness Expo hosted by South Carolina Department of Public Health earlier this summer! Attendees enjoyed fresh produce, medical screenings, health resources, goodies from us, and more. See some of the photos!

BABY SHOWER ☼ We were on hand at a community baby shower hosted by earlier this summer! We talked with expecting families and gave out Save the Children South Carolina goodie bags to happy moms-to-be. See some of the pics!

CLASSROOM GARDEN ☼ Last month we celebrated the halfway mark of our year-long pilot program, First Steps Into the Garden!

During this new gardening program for 3- to 4-year-old classrooms, we’re exploring the South Carolina Early Learning Standards through the lens of a classroom garden.

Each month, three participating centers have received simple weekly lesson plans, materials lists, vocabulary & Mighty Minutes cards, a bulletin board for tracking learning progress, and a book for their classrooms… all leading up to creating an outdoor garden to provide food and new ways to learn.
