In loving memory…

Sweet Zoe Hyman, may your soul soar and may we feel your light in all we do. Our hearts break for you and your family as they navigate this difficult time without you.

Everyone in the rescue world knows Kay Hyman with CAS, and her precious daughter, Zoe. Please take a moment of silence for this sweet family

When you are a little unsocialized, and your sister chooses violence, you both end up burrito wrapped in my lap for forced loving. These babies will be available through Forgotten Paws of the South once fully vetted. Be on the lookout for future updates on these two cuties. Guess which one chose violence?? Can you tell from the picture? And by violence, I mean a little hissing and the tiniest growl 🙄😉🤣

After much deliberation, I have decided to no longer offer TNR services. I will still foster through small rescues, provide food for colony caretakers, and provide medical care for injured community cats. I will always be a resource for each of you. I simply cannot provide TNR services due to my work schedule and family life. HCC will still be around to help those in need and I can guide you on how to TNR yourself. I am morphing into something new and I look forward to what that may be. I will always advocate for community cats and kittens.

Change is needed…

We really need to do better for our community cats. We need to reach out to our council members for support and true change within our communities. Yesterday was very discouraging to me. I witnessed a gentleman arrive at CAS main campus on his bicycle carrying a young mama cat and her single kitten. He had traveled all the way from John’s Island to Remount Road. He was turned away because he was not within city limits. My husband, and I drove around for an hour looking for him but did not find him. I am so discouraged by the decision to turn him away in this cat’s hour of need. Please reach out to your local council members and help change what is happening within our communities. The shelters need help. The shelters need funding.
