Quotes about VEIPD:

From Facu

lty:

“Every one engaged in the preparation of future or in-service early childhood educators should check out the resources provided by VEIPD! I embed the modules, video resources, and blogs across multiple courses in both our Inclusive Early Childhood program and our Early Childhood Special Education Master’s program.” -Mira Cole Williams, Ph.D., Assistant Professor, James Madison University

“I've been recommending the Learning Bytes so often to faculty and am incorporating them into the early intervention professional development I'm doing for Ohio providers. I'm excited to have these tools readily available and easily shareable for work with Virginia providers and providers across the country.” -Jen Newton, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Special Education, Ohio University

"VEIPD is my one-stop-shop for all things early intervention. Archived Talks on Tuesdays webinars make for great content for online sessions or for at-home tasks that we can discuss in-depth during a face-to-face meeting. I think of these as mini guest lectures from experts in the field. I also like searching by keyword through the EI Strategies for Success blog as a way of getting content for fleshing out my instructor notes with discussion prompts and practical information to share with students." - Serra De Arment, Ph.D., Assistant Professor, Department of Counseling and Special Education, School of Education, Virginia Commonwealth University

"...I went through all of the learning bytes in August and cross referenced them with our course objectives, and I am embedding the majority of them within the course. The students are really shifting their mindset to families, and it is really encouraging to see. You all have so many great resources so thank you for your team's work!" -Christan Grygas Coogle, PhD, Assistant Professor of Early Childhood Special Education
College of Education and Human Development, George Mason University

From the Field:

“I attend the Talks on Tuesdays live when I am able to as I always learn something that will support at least one family with whom I am working at the time. It is also helpful to access the Talks on Tuesday through the archives if there is a topic I missed, or if I need a 'refresher' about something to support a family. Looking at the blog gives me insight that other providers often feel as I do in the field (sometimes stressed, sometimes overwhelmed, and sometimes just in need of a better organizational strategy). I can often find helpful hints to support me in becoming a better service provider or some reassurance that how I am feeling is okay! The tools of the trade section on the website has been really helpful in my ability to organize service coordinator responsibilities, and I have often shared some of the tools such as the 30-45-90 day calculator and calculating age/delay calculators with our new providers. I do find myself on the VEIPD website at least once a week looking for a resource, and I am so glad that we have this collective of information available to us!” -Casey Stulz, Service Coordinator and
Developmental Services Provider, Infant and Toddler Connection Harrisonburg-Rockingham Community Services Board

“The Talks on Tuesday has been a great resource and tool to use both in training staff as well as personal professional development. They are great short mini trainings on a variety of topics. I’ve especially enjoyed the trainings on topics such as cultural competency to help ensure we are meeting the needs of all of our clients of all cultures and backgrounds.” -Kathy Yopp, Therapy Director, Helping Hands

“As a service coordinator, I accessed VEIPD for the great archived Talks on Tuesdays, training modules, and coaching materials. However, once I became a Developmental Services Provider I began accessing the site for further diagnosis-specific training, handouts, and troubleshooting a variety of client-related issues whenever I’d get stuck. I still do this often and especially enjoy accessing the ‘What Would You Do?’ blog. It’s a great reminder that I am not alone in the trials and triumphs of this position and that there are answers waiting for me with the click of a mouse.” -Jennifer Pagano, Service Coordinator, Educator, Virginia Beach Infant Program

“The VEIPD website has a wealth of easily accessible information for early interventionists to use on virtually every topic imaginable related to our field. From how to support and coach families to reflecting on our own biases and even car safety, there is always a new and helpful resource to soak up info from AND it is FREEEE! Who doesn’t love Free!” -Lisa Santra M.A. CCC-SLP, Speech Language Pathologist/Master Coach, Arlington Parent Infant Education (PIE) Program

“As a local system manager for over fourteen years I have found the Virginia Early Intervention Professional Development website to be one of my favorite ‘go to’ places for all things EI. I especially like the Early Intervention Strategies for Success Blog, and use it often as a tool during staff meetings to start conversations on issues/situations that are unique to working in homes. The “What Would You Do?” blog category is full of some of my favorite situational scenarios and is an excellent resource for new home visitors as they work to develop a sense of professional boundaries.” Jennifer McElwee, Local System Manager, Virginia Beach Infant Program
