His last statement is a testament to the readiness, willingness and servant hearts of our volunteer fire department members. Hamilton County Farm Bureau thanks all area volunteer fire departments for their service and encourages our community to consider donations to these VFDs to help them continue to serve our towns and rural areas.

HVFD Brush Unit just rechecked HWY 36 fire

We still have Multiple firefighters from HVFD on scene in evant at Rio. They will operate throughout the night.

As I pull in for the 100000000000000th (feels like) in the last 48Hours.

The reminders of our fellow volunteers await, I find the shoes they threw off in a hurry on the bay floor.

We find trucks that are battle worn, refilled and refueled ready for the next battle.

To the locals who brought drinking water, food, and tank fulls of water. Everyone of you played a vital roll in keeping us operating at the best of our abilities.

To our Command staff at multiple fires, Thank yall for going without sleep to direct and lead.

To our mutual aid partners , Thank you for assisting without delay.

To dispatch for dealing with the extreme call volume and radio traffic.

The Multiple Leo agencies who helped and continue to help.
Thank yall

To our families who dropped everything to organize and distribute supply’s.

: The county roads near the are NOW OPEN.

Roads leading to Rio Escondido are still open to RESIDENTS ONLY.

Texas A&M Forest Service says this is still an active fire and to proceed with caution. Find a place to pull off, and do not stop in the middle of the road.

"Out of courtesy to homeowners, please refrain from sharing images or videos of burned structures."

According to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office, the Rio Escondido fire north of Evant is 30% contained at this time with 2,500 acres effected. The HCSO urged the public to stay away from the area as first responders work.

The Evant high school gym is open for those who have been displaced.

Please pray for the safety of everyone assisting with the firefighting effort, for area residents and all those affected by this fire.

Farm-to-Market roads are how our food and fiber get from Texas farms to our homes and stores.

It’s a road system that was developed to help “get Texas farmers out of the mud.”

That was the campaign slogan in the fifties, to gain support for farm-to-market roads that connect Texas farms directly to highways and other cities.

Decades ago, those roads were built to do what their name implies—bring goods from the farm to market. And they still do that today.

If you travel them, you’ll likely meet a farmer or rancher driving large farm equipment or hauling trailers. When that happens, please be patient. Slow down and give them some space. They’re driving those roads to help bring food from the fields to our tables.
