Stop by the UC Master Gardener table at the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department's Seed & Plant Start Giveaway. This event is free and open to all San Francisco residents. UC Master Gardeners will give out seeds, veggie plants and herb starts courtesy of the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department. In addition to the free seeds and plants, Master Gardeners will provide planting and gardening advice.

Registration is not required.

Learn the secrets to a successful, healthy and colorful succulent landscape. Topics will include pre-planting considerations (before you go out and buy a truckload of plants and then ponder where to put them); garden design basics that include the use of color, shapes, textures and heights; favorite and hardy landscape succulents for the Bay Area. Lastly, there will be a discussion of how to care and maintain your succulents for a year-long healthy and colorful landscape.

Learn how to identify landscape vulnerabilities, maintain healthy soil moisture, and use fire-resistant, water-wise planting practices. The new Veterans Memorial Building at 1333 Madison Avenue in Redwood City, California, opens to the public on June 8, 2026! The hours are Monday through Friday, 9am-5pm. Come visit the building, and visit the rooftop garden. Hope to see you there!

Join UC Master Gardeners at this free event at the San Carlos Library. The class will focus on easy-to-grow herbs and and what you can do with them. Usages will include household and beauty applications, crafting and cooking. The class will be held on the library’s herb garden patio. There will be free samples for everyone.

UC Master Gardener Leslie Muennemann will share her family's journey of creating a native landscape. While working and raising a family for a few decades, their previously landscaped yard reverted to its natural state. Once Leslie and her family had more time, they decided to create a garden that would fit their rural, riparian neighborhood. After installation, they had to learn how to care for it, and that learning continues. California natives' care is not like caring for your conventional landscaped garden.
