"Tunitas never fails to enchant me with the beauty of the redwoods, the sound of the creek, the twist and turns, and the happiness of reaching the top. It’s cool in the summer and protected from wind and rain in the winter... I invite everyone to ride the Bike Hut Classic. It’s a good challenge and a way to give back to our Coastside neighbors who help make our life as cyclists more exceptional. We’re all connected!"

There's one week to go to ride The Bike Hut Classic! As we head into the 2nd weekend to crush the climb from The Bike Hut to Skyline, we wanted to announce that we've already hit 65% of our $65k fundraising goal. That means we've raised over $43k, and all thanks to YOU! Did you know that 100% of our proceeds go to Abundant Grace Coastside Worker for their workforce programs employing the homeless?! We run a few of these programs on the farm behind The Bike Hut. Pictured here are Gus and Roger, two of our participants, tending to our fields. With their help, we grow nutritious fresh food that Abundant Grace gives away for free at their twice-weekly farm stand. This transformative program gets many folks working again, builds confidence and connection, improves mental health, and feeds those in need.

Registration is open through Sunday, July 21 (the last day to ride) at www.bikehutclassic.com. We're currently at 276 riders. Can you share this post and help us get to 300?!

Wow, what an amazing first weekend of The Bike Hut Classic 2024! There was so much buzz and excitement around The Bike Hut, it was incredible to see the energy pouring out of you all. We saw big groups, small groups, some who were out to set a PR, others in it for fun or to ride in support of Abundant Grace Coastside Worker and their workforce programs for the homeless.
There are already impressive stats for the ride, and I'll be making more posts over the next couple of weeks to keep folks up to date on what's happening. A few highlights so far...

IMPRESSIVE TIMES:
Grant Miller (30:52!!!) and Andrew Ernst (31:38) set some smoking fast times to beat, battling it out for Males 20 - 29.
Jeremy Besmer (Male 30 - 39) came in hot on their tails at 31:57.
Meanwhile, jumping up to the Male 50 - 59 category, you wouldn't guess it was an older age category from Ted Huang's super fast 32:08!
Finally, Bruce Matheson set a serious time to beat for Males 60 - 69 with his result of 41:40!
As for Females, Jen Tave (30 - 39 age group) ripped up Tunitas in 36:20, while Mary H leads the 50 - 59 category at 50:41!
In summary, we've kicked off the ride with some insane times to set the tone of the 2024 ride!

IMPRESSIVE FUNDRAISING:
We've challenged you all to fundraise for Abundant Grace Coastside Worker, and Rick Wallace has come out big again this year as the leading individual, bringing in an impressive $1700!
For one of the smaller clubs, Team Sheeper Triathlon is, yet again, the highest club or group fundraiser so far, bringing in $3800!
Two of the bigger clubs have also brought in a considerable and generous amount and are right behind Team Sheeper... Alto Velo Racing Team (pictured here from the weekend!) at $3362 and Western Wheelers Bicycle Club at $2875. These group fundraisers don't account for the funds brought in by registrations, and those will be tallied before we award the highest fundraising group. All proceeds go to Abundant Grace's workforce programs for the homeless, several of which take place on the farm behind The Bike Hut!

This is an incredible effort all around, and we are blown away again this year by everyone's participation! Thank you all so much!

Registrants have until July 21 to ride as many times as they would like. Register at www.bikehutclassic.com.
