Animal Rescue Support Project – Kalubowila, Sri Lanka

This project was made possible through the generous contributions of our club members and friends. Special thanks to our friend Waruni C Jayasinghe for her generous donation.
Many of our members are passionate animal lovers. After the recent flood disaster in Sri Lanka, several animal rescue centers were in need of support.
During her visit, Lion Samantha Gajaweera identified a rescue facility in Kalubowila caring for around 150 rescued animals. Run by a dedicated and compassionate woman, this sanctuary gives injured and abandoned animals a second chance at life.

District 4-C3 Concord, NorCal Helping Hands Lions Club Hunger Project – Divisarana Friendship Foundation, Kurunegala, Sri Lanka- March 2026
Special Thanks to our sponsors, Era Wick & Shresta, for their generous donations in making this project successful.
This home is located in a rural area of the Kurunegala District and cares for mentally challenged elders under the guidance of a Buddhist monk with very limited support. It operates under very basic conditions and serves around 35 residents.
With the donations, we provided a warm dinner, distributed care packs with bathroom essentials and towels, and contributed 6 cement bags for their newly building restrooms.

Our club is grateful to Lion Samantha Gajaweera for carrying out this project in person during her visit to Sri Lanka.
