What if feeling better isn’t about adding one more supplement?

In our October blog, “You Can’t Supplement Your Way Out of a Dysregulated Life,” Dr. Tye Johnson looks beyond the latest vitamins, hormones and wellness trends to something much more fundamental: the everyday habits that create a foundation for well-being.

Sleep. Nourishing food. Movement. Managing stress. Setting boundaries. Connection.

These things may not be as exciting as the newest wellness trend, but as Dr. Johnson explains, they can play an important role in how we care for both our bodies and our minds, particularly during perimenopause and menopause.

Her message is a good reminder that taking care of ourselves doesn’t have to mean doing everything perfectly. Sometimes it starts with getting back to the basics.

Recovery is stronger when we come together.

This Sunday, October 18, Starting Point will once again join the recovery community at Recovery Wars, King’s Crusade’s 8th Annual Dodgeball Tournament.

Recovery Wars brings together advocates, treatment providers, nonprofits, sober living organizations, families, educators, law enforcement, and community members, all united in support of individuals and families impacted by addiction.

For the second year, Starting Point is proud to support this event as a Peace Offering sponsor. We’ll also be there with a Starting Point information table, sharing resources and connecting with those who may be looking for support.

King’s Crusade uses funds raised through the event to help individuals in recovery with needs such as placement into detox and rehabilitation, sober living entry fees, transportation to treatment, and basic living expenses.

Whether you want to play, donate, or simply help spread the word, there are many ways to be part of the day.

📅 Sunday, October 18

We look forward to being there and supporting a community that believes in hope, recovery, and helping one another move forward.

Change doesn't happen all at once. It happens one step, one choice and one day at a time.

Starting Point is pleased to introduce 𝙎𝙩𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙮 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚, a new weekly lecture series with Brent McNamara, MA, LCADC of Steady Change Counselingstarting November 3, 2026.

Drawing from more than 20 years of professional experience and his own journey in recovery, Brent will take a deeper look at addiction, what can contribute to it, the patterns and triggers that can keep us stuck, and the skills that can help support meaningful change.

The series will continue throughout the year, but there's no need to attend every week or start at the beginning. Each lecture is designed to stand on its own, so you're welcome to join whenever a topic speaks to you.

𝙎𝙩𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙮 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚 is for people in recovery, those just beginning to explore recovery, family members and caregivers, behavioral health professionals, and anyone interested in better understanding addiction and change.

Mental health support isn’t just important today. It’s at the heart of what we do every day at Starting Point.

For nearly 50 years, Starting Point has been a place where individuals and families can turn for counseling, recovery support, education, support groups, and connection through many different seasons of life.

On World Mental Health Day, we’re reminded why that work matters.

Behind every person who walks through our doors is a different story. Someone may be navigating anxiety or depression, grieving a loss, working through a relationship or family challenge, rebuilding a life in recovery, or simply looking for guidance during a difficult time.
Whatever brings someone to Starting Point, our goal remains the same: to provide a welcoming place where people can find the support and resources they need to move forward.

Today, we honor the practitioners, staff, volunteers, supporters, and community members who help make that possible every day and a good reminder that help and hope is available to those who need it.

Starting Point is honored to be recognized as a Partner in Prevention!

This weekend we received the Partners in Prevention Award from the Haddon Township Bureau of Fire Prevention and Westmont Fire Company No. 1.

The award recognizes local organizations that demonstrate an ongoing commitment to fire prevention, public safety, and property protection through consistent compliance and meaningful fire-safety improvements.

We’re grateful to Ryan Sheppard, Fire Marshal, and the entire fire prevention team for this recognition and, more importantly, for the work they do every day to help keep our community safe.

Congratulations and thank you to Angela Baxter and the Starting Point team whose continued efforts and attention to safety helped make this recognition possible.

We’re proud to be a Partner in Prevention and proud to be part of the Haddon Township community.
